Default Z06 motor

I been looking through this whole forum for like 3hr+ and hasn't found anything. I need your help. If any member/vendor can help me out, i would really appreciated. I have an uncle that wants an Z06 engine with transmission and ecu basically a full motor to run when installing into the engine bay. Can I find one in good condition for around 3k-4k? Thanks

Chris

It'd be pretty tough to find it with the trans at the price. But there's full motors that'll go for that much.

I know of a wrecking yard in Spokane that sold the entire chassis, including engine/6 spd LS2 for $4k I'd think you'd have better luck searching wrecking yards.

Does your uncle know that the transmission is on the other end of a torque tube, at the back of the car, not right behind the clutch? You're not going to use the C5 transmission in much of anything else without some major work, unless he's thinking of using the whole transaxle, in which case he should buy a rolling chassis as stated above.

Sounds like he's doing some kind of conversion. I used GTO components for my project car. Normal engine/clutch/transmission/driveshaft arraingement. Those drive trains are worth more than the $4k you're looking to spend, especially when you get into the LS2 or LS3 if you want a stick.

Someday there might just be a volvo wagon that pulls up next to you with an LS1 and T56 six speed under the hood. Better be ready or you'll be caught sleeping.....

Yes you are correct its a conversion. He swapping his old twin turbo 300zx motor which got lock into a LS1 or Z06 motor. I know it going to be a lot of work/money when this happen. How much (estimate) am i going to spend? 10k?

thats a fairly common conversion.
go to LS1tech.com and find the conversions and hybrid section, and then search away.

it will cost one and a half to two times more than your closest estimate.
Minimum $5k if you're useing a LS1,2,3 or 6. cheaper for the 5.3 motors, which come in some vans and trucks.
