I wonder why my seat would be missing a plug. .

Bump. Just curious how guys with aftermarket seats still have the function of the telescopic steering?

Bump.

Still havent found a solution to this problem. Could it be a bad motor? I have a used steering column on the way. Just curious what you guys think I need to check to get this working. I checked all fuses and none are bad. I do have Corbeau seats in now so the memory isnt plugged in under the seat. Is there a way to bypass this if its an issue?

Is it possible that the previous owner put the seat from a non telescopic car in?

The blue connector should be some where tucked under the seat if the seat controls are the version that supports the tele wheel.

The blue connector that is part of the car is what runs the tele wheel. If it has no place to plug into then that feature won't work.

So how do guys with aftermarket seats keep this function? And this may be true because the "original" seats did not have a plug for that. Is there a way to bypass that plug to where I can use it without?

So I just replaced my seats today with some A4s. As I didn't want to lose my power telescope feature and the memory for the wheel and the mirrors I knew that I needed to move the driver seat control module over. What I didn't expect was that I would also have to move the entire wire harness from the drivers seat to the new seat. I thought the blue plug would be independent and I could just move it and the control module... nope. Anyway I removed the entire wire harness and neatly installed the control module and the harness under the new seat. By doing this I was also able to retain the seatbelt connector (no seatbelt light while using the seatbelt). I plugged in the blue and black connectors into the leads from the car and all was well. My car retains the memory for the wheel telescope and mirrors, and obviously I can still adjust the telescope wheel with the adjustment switch. Oh, and I get no errors or warnings of any kind - at least none that I've noticed yet.

It took me a while to do a nice neat factory look job, but it was pretty easy overall.

I hope this answers your question?

Thanks!

The stock seats that came out of my car had no male connector for the female plug coming out of the floor. Looks like I need to find a used SCM. Do I just need the drivers side?

Can anyone show pics of the SCM and the harness I would need?

By chance would there be a way to make the telecopic steering work WITHOUT the SCM??

I only moved over the driver's control box and harness. Sorry, I didn't take any pictures, though in retrospect I think should have. The control module is under the seat attached be the wire that holds the bottom seat foam in place. It's easy to remove because it just has "fins" that hold it in place. It's a black square box that's maybe 4" x 4" x 1", and it has three connectors attached. My car is an 2001 - and I have no idea if other year vettes will have the same configuration.

Thanks, I need to check my old seats to see if it is hidden in there somewhere. If not. Looks like I will have to find a used set..
