Considered getting a vinyl overlay put on by a local shop?
Yes i have gone to several shops in my area about getting it wrapped and none of them said they can do it in one piece b/c of the vents on the bottom of the bumper. They said they would have to cut it and put another piece of vinyl in the vents which would make it have a visible line. I think having a line would make it look cheap and cheesy.
If you could and have the time, please try and do a DIY write-up if thats what your goin for, that would be a huuuugge help to very many adventurous members

Agreed, that would look bad. I'm somewhat surprised they would say that they'd have to do it that way, though. There was a company selling a vinyl overlay a couple of years back, and it was all one piece, just had cuts in the vinyl for those holes.
Regardless of what I end up doing for my rear bumper, I'm just going to get that section painted black and be done with it. I've seen it on a few random C5's and it looks too damn good not to just run with it.

When everything is done i will do a DIY Write up for ya!
In one of your most recent pictures I see 2 seperate lower rear molds.... did you make a mold out of a mold or did you make 2 off of the rear bumper (lower) ????

the only way they said it could be done in one piece would be to leave the small part that goes through center the original color. So all they would do it cut around it. My car is silver i think that would look even worse. Im afraid to paint it myself bc if i mess up i will be pissed.lol Ive also taken it to paint shops nd they said the only wy to make it look good is to paint the whole rear bumper then the bottom part black so they can clear over the whole thing, bc if they just paint the bottom then there will be a ridge. Who knows hopefully with this mod he will sell some of the lower pieces!!

The first one is the mold from original bumper, the other is the plug from the mold.
And the plug should be finished product but as i want to modify it a little i do all mods then i probably do one more mold on that part, then i can take out as many complete modded lower ends as i want from the mold.
Its a little more work, but then i got genuine pieces in glass fiber or carbon. It´s nice to have molds on every bit of the car if i ever want to modify or if i bump in to anything.
After the rear bumper is ready, the rear fenders are next!
"After the rear bumper is ready, the rear fenders are next!"
Holy sheeeeeet!
Great DIY thread in the making!
Definitely gonna be watching this now. I just tried out a pair of Lewis 5 Motorsports splash guards and while they're the best looking splash guards available for the C5, I wasn't totally sold on the fitment. If I can make / mold my own set right into the fenders, I'm all for it!
Is the rear bumper going to be a C6 type, but with the C5 lights, likes the Duraflex?
What are the plans for the fenders any pictures or drawings?
No, not like the C6 bumper, to be honest i havent decided yet, when i start with the plug i decide the design, i have a couple of ideas/visions but i see what way it turns when i start mod it.
The fenders is ready in design with drawings, but i post them later.. cant post my idea before i start doing it!
What wax and release agent did you use? Looking good !!
Right now i use mcguire wax, but i think i go back to Sonax when i do molds.
Mcguire gives better finish but feels softer then Sonax.
My release agent is a noname.. i buy it from a local supplier and gets it in a blank bottle.. But i used another before (dont remember the name) and it was the same, i think all do the same job as long u wax´d properly before!
