No matter what car you drive your gonna have issues with one thing or another. You happen to have gotten one with a bad slave cylinder, unfortunatly GM is not gonna fix it on their dime, it's all on you. I had a similar issue with GM with a bad drivers seat belt. I really thought that GM would replace it since it was a safety issue but I had no luck and it cost me about 275.00 w/labor to replace. Hopefully you won't have many problems anytime soon, but as the car ages you most certainly will. I've had many cars and I can truthfully say that Corvettes have been some of the most reliable cars I have owned (as long as I dont mod the powertrain too much). Also you should drive your car more often, these cars are meant to be driven and will be more reliable when driven rather than sitting for long periods of time. Good luck with it bro!
the key to to above is "no matter what car you drive" it all just comes down to that particular unit. i have owned 2 BMWs in my lifetime, have loads of friends and acquaintances that swear by them, and as far as i am concerned they are the biggest piece of crap in the world. the 7 series we couldn't keep on the road. if you ran more than 4 errands in a row, it went dead and wouldn';t crank over. the 3 series convertible was so over engineered that it had sensors monitoring sensors, monitoring sensors, etc when something went bad, it took forever to isolate it and get it corrected and of course, nothing was ever covered under warranty.
i've come to realize that i just needed to re-read wheels by arthur haley once again and remember that it's not the brand per se, it's the individual unit that causes you to generalize it back to the brand or the company.
Definitely go with a Porsche. They never brake and are cheaper to fix. Adios.

I hear ya there I have a 2003 with 95,000 miles, never had a clutch issue - in fact, it's still the original stock clutch and slave cyl.
I had a 928S4 for nine years or so, while on may way to Hot August Nights in Reno, Water pump froze, burnt my timing belt, tapped two pistons, bent four valves - 300 mile tow job, $12,000 later - priceless
this is why i always say that low mileage is not always the plus some on this forum think it is.
a sitting car deteriorates quickly.
I take my 2003 A4 coupe into a dealership and have for a number of years. It one of those Family owned business's and they have a Technicians who only works four days a week and only does Corvette work. But last year, maybe two years ago he swapped out my differential fluid and the Dexcool flushed and refreshed. but he and I talked about common work he gets, and he told me the one overlooked service project on every 6 speed Corvette is the Clutch fluid being changed every year if not Bi-Annually. He told me the 4 or ten clutch jobs are not a worn out clutch, but the the clutch fluid has been fried so many times, he has to run fresh fluid through the master and new slave cylinder at least five times before it turns fresh colored.
He told no matter how gentle you drive a 96 to 09 six speed, you should have the clutch fluid changed at least every year. The clutch is under a great amount of stress and often hotter than hell. and the fluid takes all that abuse, even using synthetic fluid it should be flushed out once a year. I'm will to bet that this a weak point for Porsche as well.
I still cant believe that chevrolet doesn't care enough about its customers to engineer a fix for these clutch problems.
Chevrolet HAS engineered a fix,it's called a "replacement clutch slave cylinder",and they're for sale to the general public.
Pop one of those babies in there, and you'll be shiftin' again in nothin' flat...
Mine shriveled up AND started to leak about a year ago,my wife actually noticed it before I did.....
But she didn't want to say anything until she was sure it was a real problem.....
But when the Vette left a second drip on the garage floor, she told me about it.
I said "Don't worry,honey,I'll just get a new one"
This made her very happy- she was worried it might never work again.....
Porsche!!!They are so great,,that their banner car,, the $150+K twin turbo AWD,, lost out to the ZR1 in a Motor Trend show down!! It broke and couldn't finish the comparison test!!! While it was still running good,,,the vette ran faster on the road course with both pro driver and magazine driver!!
