After 19000 pampered miles my slave cylinder is leaking and I have no clutch on my Z06. What kind of engineering crap is chevrolet trying to pass on to us. When you pay more than 50 grand for a car you would expect better engineering. After reading up on this it looks like clutch problems are a common thing. The dealership just told me no warranty because it is more than 3 years old. I still cant believe that chevrolet doesn't care enough about its customers to engineer a fix for these clutch problems. Having to change your clutch fluid all the time because of clutch dust accumulation is just redicoulous for a car of this caliber. I was really looking forward to upgrading to a C6 but now Im leaning towards another Porsche.

Had my '00 for 7.5 years and 37K miles - never had one problem with the clutch or any related components. Only changed the clutch fluid once in that time. Can't explain why your's is having problems, but I know mine was .
But I can understand your frustration. GM did have a number of issues that they failed to adequately address (i.e., column lock, rocking seat, rear differential seals).
No matter what car you drive your gonna have issues with one thing or another. You happen to have gotten one with a bad slave cylinder, unfortunatly GM is not gonna fix it on their dime, it's all on you. I had a similar issue with GM with a bad drivers seat belt. I really thought that GM would replace it since it was a safety issue but I had no luck and it cost me about 275.00 w/labor to replace. Hopefully you won't have many problems anytime soon, but as the car ages you most certainly will. I've had many cars and I can truthfully say that Corvettes have been some of the most reliable cars I have owned (as long as I dont mod the powertrain too much). Also you should drive your car more often, these cars are meant to be driven and will be more reliable when driven rather than sitting for long periods of time. Good luck with it bro!

With only those miles on it even be over 3 yrs old it is bad...
It is a good idea to drive and exercise the part that is "ENGINERED" to work! If it does not get exercised and only PAMPERED then it is no wonder it dropped out!
Once you have the new one in, use it and don't let it rot!
Brakes are the same way, don't use the calipers for months they can get crap built up and lock up, good to exercise and bleed them too. Do the same with you new slace cylinder and get the remote bleeder kit for it - Bleed brakes and slave as "ROUTINE" mainteneance
I've never seen a car take care of itself, you have to maintain it!

You have to remember it isn't a new car, It has a lot of years on it.
this is why i always say that low mileage is not always the plus some on this forum think it is.
a sitting car deteriorates quickly.
Awwww long time no see
I actually agree with you for once
To the OP, drive your cars and they'll run forever.
But, Corvette's aren't really that high end of a car. They're just a mix between a muscle car and a sports car. They are great and I love them, it seems they have many issues and require lots of attention. I like Porche too, and it might be a better suit for you.
Just passed a brand new Porsche on the side of the road on the way into work. It did not look good lights flashing and things smoking.
On the through out bearing on a corvette or any other car, age is more important than miles do, because of the sealing drying out because it was not driven. Pampered miles do not count.
Good luck sorry that it happend but the dealer or chevy can not cover the repair cost because you did not drive your car. Good luck with the porsche.
