3200 and 3600 stall convertors are too high for a stock motor. You wouldn't need any more than 2800. If you increase your cam size, only then will you need more stall. Those large stalls are over kill.

I don't know about that. Back in the day we used 3600-4000 stalls in our bolt on F-Bodys with some really great results. If fact before installing a Ragin Stinger cam in my current C5 I had a Vigilante 3600 with bolts on only in the car. Drove the car everywhere and had no problems with streetability.

they are doing my install, and tune.........dont real want them to be pissie, because of a part i brought into their shop. (im already bringing 3:42 gears) i went that route before, had a problem,,,,,sure enough, my faulty part caused the prob, no warranty, had to start from scratch. i just want this to go as smooth as possible, 1 day install, and drive home

I just copied and pasted the other reply as I don't know how to multi -quote/post.

Any way, yes if you are going to track the car go with an independent or tie in an additional cooler to your radiator/trans cooler.

Before this latest build I had a small cooler tied into the radiator putting down 410 rwhp to the wheels with an SS3600 Yank. Cut 1.6's all day with 3:73's. Fried the stock transmission and went to an RPM stage V.

Current set-up I'm using a Yank Custom 3400 Nitrous 11" converter putting down 725 to the wheels with an 8 rib blower. I got rid of the stock radiator and went with a Dewitts and installed the largest B&M cooler for the trans that I could fit under the car. Also put in RPM hardened half shafts in the differential.

The comment is right on about putting high stall converters in a stock set-up. Mike Mercury did a write up on this several years ago. Do a search and it will answer all your questions.

I got my 2800, tripe-disk Vigalante from RPM, when I bought the Stage VI 4L65E tranny and Level 4 3.42, 3-rib diff. Mine feels very loose until it locks, and when it does, it will squeak my fan belt by such a hard hit. Don't get me wrong, I love it! I am currently making 505 RWHP, but should be up to 1000 before the end of the year. My setup was for that goal.

But when you start to get around 400 rwhp/tq those large stalls aren't really over kill.

Keep us posted - and let me know how you like the SS3600?

Is it a single disc, double or triple?

Thanks,Matt
