Patience does pay off. Sometimes the excitement of the buy makes people choose one they shouldn't choose.

Good luck and enjoy your car!

Real sweet ride! And a nice buy!

Do some research on the A/H option, some Z51 had them I have been told. Mine doesn't. 2000 was a transition year for the C5. If your's doesn't, be glad. The replacement shocks are sky high. I just installed C6 Z06 shocks on mine and WOW!

The post above is what I mean,,,all 2000's were not alike!

Enjoy the heck outta her!
A/H (active handling) has nothing to do with the expensive shocks. Those were on the adjustable ride/suspension cars. I have Z51 and A/H on my '01 and it is a great option package. I believe that starting '01 and newer is when you can switch to Competition Mode on the fly (mine does) and the earlier A/H systems you had to be stopped to change into Comp Mode. Congrats and have fun!!

Great buy, that is really low mileage. I just picked up a 99 with 70K miles for $13,700. Pretty much its $1k per 10,000 miles.

I crawled up under it today and noticed it has that infamous leaking left side differential seal. Its not bad enough to leave fluid on the garage floor yet but the casing and rubber boot are grungy. There is no way I am going to try and fix that in my garage. What is an average cost to reseal that up?

A Dealership will be looking for somewhere around $800 or so to repair a leaky rear seal.

They all seep. My suggestion is to degrease and clean up the oil/dirt build up real good. Then check the differential fluid level. Top it off if its low and keep an eye on it. If it seeps (no drips but some visible fluid) or leaks (dripping fluid) then get it resealed.

Takes me 3 hours, the new seal is only about $25. Good time to upgrade trans. and diff. fluids as well. If you are mechanically inclined its fairly simple. Remove the muffler. I unbolt the upper control arm at the frame so that I can pop out the half shaft and move it out of the way. Drain the diff. fluid. Unbolt the axle housing cover. There is a stud you need to remove in front of the diff. cover. Use two nuts to extract it. The cover will pop out and you can then slide it out through the back of the car. Replace the large O-ring seal. Clean up the cover real good. Apply a thin bead of RTV on the cover ledge where it meets the housing. Fill up your diff. Some fluids do not require limited slip additive, some do. Put everything back together. Road test, maybe do some figure 8's in a parking lot to lubricate the clutch packs real good. Check the fluid.
