Default C5 Opti?

Starting with the C5 in 97, does any of the engines use an optispark. And if they did, when were they discontinued?

I thought the opti ended at 96.

The C5 never used the Opti-Spark system - thankfully.

The Opti-Crap was advertised as the be all to end all.
It didn't quite work out that way. 96 SS.

GM Stopped Opti-Crap in '96 on the LT motors - once into the new LS1's they are one coil per cylinder and "ALL" computer controlled

Thanks,Matt

The opti wasn't as bad as how it is portrayed. They didn't like water on the early ones and what's the first thing many vette owners do? They start washing the engines then get all wee weed up when there opti fails.

Then when the water pump went south the opti usually followed because people didn't catch, or ignored, the water pump issue.

The vented opti took care of that issue as it allowed for water drainage. I know tons of C4's that have well over 100k and they are still on their original opti.

But with that said, I'm glad theydon't use them anymore
