I bought a new one back in October of last year. Replaced the Optima Red Top I had with a Sears DieHard Platinum - got it at the local Sears store. Price was around $185 before taxes.
Replaced my 6 yr old red top with an AC Delco 60 series instead of the Professional because the new Professionals have removable top caps now (good chance for acid leakage) and the 60 is still nicely sealed. Got it at a local shop that is an AC Delco dealer (group 78 instead of 75 more CCA and fits great) $64.61 w/ my discount.
My Kirkland (costco) battery has been fantastic. It was also inexpensive.
I got one from Costco as well. I went in there for an Optima red-top (it's cheapest there), but after reviewing the specs and and seeing a ~$60 price-tag, I went with Kirkland. It's warrantied by Costco and works great!

I put the Same Delco in our '02. Nearly Same price.
I replaced my Delco Professional with a Costco Group 5 just last week for about $63 after the core was deducted. Case-wise, they appeared to be twins, probably meaning that they both were produced by the same folks, Johnson Controls. That first Delco lasted over eight years, but even with a Battery Tender, it got a little squirrelly at the end. I have another C4, and that battery is going on six years, also with a Battery Tender. I wish that I had more time to drive all of the Corvettes more frequently than I do....that's the secret of good battery performance.
If you find one that meets the Reserve Capcity requirment, then you will have found a good battery. Not many replacements meet Reserve Capacity requirement.
Although it lacks the RC capacity, I chose a Duralast Gold, as they are great battery's.
Read this post ysterday 2/17/11 and today my 97 coupe failed to start,
so I looked up the battery data on Delco site and my battery was made in 03. I replaced it with a Delco ACD78-60. the cost was 86.85 at a Parts store in Quarryville PA. (Nolt's Auto Parts) I'm thinking that this might be the 3rd battery in an oldie.
