Default Does anyone use that clear sticker cover on your rockers?

I didn't want to hi jack another thread about rocker road rash on this subject but I was wondering if anyone uses that clear sticker stuff for your lower rockers. I'm repainting my lower rockers next week and was curious if that kit is worth the money?

I use it. It seems to work ok and it seems to be easier to remove road tar etc from it than it is to remove from the paint. It will last for several years and then you may want to replace it because it turns slightly yellow over time. You just have to make sure the edges are sealed tight to the car or you may lose a piece of it driving in a rain storm where there is a lot of water on the road.

I use clear film, Cleartastic, in combination with small black front splash guards and have successfully avoided road rash of the rocker panels and wheel well areas. Look into the Cleartastic full kit. The splash guards are thin black plastic and use two fender hole locations for attachment, no drilling required. The splash guards blend so well with the black paint and tires that they are virtually invisible.

3M film works well and adheres better due to the adhesive and has no air bubbles since the film is much thinner. Cleartastic is thick, 8 mil, and easily removeable and reuseable but will show some air bubbles, undectable at 5 feet.

Very well worth the money. After the respray you will need to wait until the paint is fully cured.... which could take up to 30 days depending on what your painter says.

I have the 3M clear vinyl covering my rocker panels and part way up the door. Sure does keep the rock chips down.
