I am considering purchasing a vehicle that is on line, several states away and having that vehicle shipped to me. Previously, I have purchased vehicles out of state and flown to the origin location and driven them home.
However, at this time in my life I neither want to do so nor does financial limitations warrant such.
I am familiar with most of the legalities but what are the obvious scenarios that I should be aware of?
I.E., I am a nerd. What should I look out for?
Thank you, Bigbelly

Had 2 Vettes shipped to me. Since they were both high mile cars I did not know about any previous damage but both arrived on time and were OK with nothing major done to them. I can't remember who I used but since C5's are so much lower some haulers will have a tough time getting them on and off a standard trailer. Pick a quality shipper if it is supposed to be a nice car and ask if they have shipped C5s before. It won't be that cheap with a good carrier much cheaper to go get it yourself if you can get someone to go on a road trip with you.

Phhhaah, I have no desire to make a Road Trip. I work 10 hours a day then I go to the Gym, eat, sleep and prey to live until my next "Day Off" then I start the entire process over.
Thank you for your incite, I will pick a quality shipper!

I've shipped my cars across the Atlantic. In my experience it's best to find a good local organization (at either end of the journey) which comes recommended.
Have shipped several times: California to Florida and Florida to Maine both times the hauler used a closed truck with the proper suspension etc. and there was no damage to vehicles.
You need to make sure that whoever checks the inspection sheet before the car is loaded on takes their time and is very picky. Once it arrives it's just a matter of doing the same thing and if any damage is seen that it be noted at that time. Next day is to late.
Both times I had the cars shipped the charge was based on miles and I believe the cost was between .80 and $1.00 per mile.
Wow, after diving in head first and investing money, I am now somewhat informed about shipping and have executed "Due Diligence". I am now dangerous with information.
It's almost as intense as the wait for your first born child. However, in my case, It was a false pregnancy. I now have a second chance to attempt to make it a perfect delivery.
