My wife and daughter think the wave is funny. First time she was with me and saw me wave, she asked if I knew the guy we passed and I waved to. When I said no, I don't have to know him, he's driving a vette, she called my daughter and they had a laugh.
We were in Florida last week driving the Mustang. She asked (laughing) if Mustangs wave to each other. I just said no and left it at that.
I have a lot of people wave that arent even in vettes. I also get the long distance waves. Where I am on the interestate in the far right lane and another vette will be coming from the opposite direction and wave.
Not only do I get waves from people not even driving 'Vettes, I have had people not in 'Vettes pull up beside me and pace me until I look at them, and give me a big "thumbs up"
I waved when I was on a Harley, and I wave at other Corvettes
Wow, someone had some "negative" spilled in their Corn Flakes this morning.
I guess my area is not anything like yours. Everyone waves, regardless of their age or what generation of Corvette they drive. I have read negative reactions like this about "The Wave" since the C4 was brand new and they always focus on owners of the newest generation. Maybe we should all try to have the enthusiasm equal to this new Corvette owner.
not negative, just making a generalization of the average C6 owner in my area (not all obviously). while i have no interest in an all corvette club (i am the president of a small none brand specific club that has everything from a bloomington 67 cpe to several customized PT cruisers in it) i do know a few of the more active guys in the largest corvette club in my area, and as a general rule, they have nothing real nice to say about most of their C6 owners who seem to fit the profile i described in my original post. they couldn't care about getting involved and helping the club, they just seemed to have joined to be able show off their "toys" to folks they presume would be in awe of them. nothing is all or none, but at least in my area, most of the new corvettes seem to be driven by plastic filled ladies or some pretty old "gentlemen". neither of which know the history of the wave or seem to care. sorry if you took umbridge with my post.
To wave or not to wave, that is the question. Whether t'is nobler in the vette to endure the slings and arrows of outrageous non-wavers or to merely let them go on their weary travels without having known the momentous joys of friendship cast about freely by their brothers in vettes, we all must decide. Shakespeare would probably wave.
