i just bought my z last summer and at 1st it seemed like everyone always waved and i always waved back (i even had a guy who was way ahead of me and exiting the highway slow way down just to wave as i passed before he got off) now it seems like no one ever waves back at me. i will say it seems like the its usually the younger drivers that don't wave. which, as a younger driver, (24) i am disappointed by but no biggie. i usually forget about it within moments.

i agreed with someone that i was sick of waving. after reading about the passion some have for it i'll explain.
there are a whole lot more bikes on the road than vettes. the wave used to be from harley owner to harley owner, then everybody starts to wave to everybody. sort of like muscle car and honda s2000 drivers waving to you in your vette. if you take a ride on a great twisty well maintained road through the mountains do you have any idea how many bikes you pass? especially if it's a larger group, here they come. 20 riders all sticking their hand out at you while you are leaned into a turn.
similar thing happens when you drive through carlisle during those special days in august. here they come. 20 or 30 vettes in a line with everybody waving at you. do you really have to drive down the street one handed waving like a parade queen to avoid being branded as a non-waver?
i do wave most of the time, but there are those other times where i am indeed, sick of waving.

Sucks - it has happened to me before and I know I too have missed a few waves to other drivers - but I keep my head up always looking to wave

Thanks,Matt

I had a corvette driver snub by wave yesterday. I thought "What an ***". Then it occurred to me that he may have know who I was.

My first wave was a black C6Z, I wasn't ready, so I guess I snubbed him.

Sometimes I wave. Sometimes I'll lift two fingers off the wheel. Sometimes I don't wave. I like to use both hands during spirited driving.

Its a pretty simple gesture, just like holding a door open for someone. I don't see why someone wouldn't wave since there is a feeling of kinship when you own a vette. It is a time honored tradition. I suppose it comes down to, a respect for the kinship and being polite.

1. The guy could have had a lot on his mind, and did not notice your vette.

2. Maybe he was looking at your vette and not at you, so he did not see you wave.

3. Who cares... Life is full of things that matter, and this is not one of them.

I always look at it like this.

I wave, when I see them, but I'm not waving to the guy/gal in the vette. I'm acknowledging, and waving, to another vette.

it's that simple, so for those who don't want to wave, or think it's not as cool as wearing your pants on your ankles, no biggie.

I don't really care.

I deal with different types of people every day and for the most part people generally are not as happy or content as just a few years ago. Probably due to the economy and the fact that this world is in lousy shape. People in general have a lot more on their plate than ever before and it reflects in the way they interact with other people. When I'm stressed I try not to show it too much as it won't do any good anyway, others can be read like a book and Corvette owners are no different. I do wave at all Vettes and get a wave back about 70% of the time, for the ones that don't either they didn't see me or there just not in the mood, either way thats OK, I don't take offense.

When I'm stressed, I take the top off, put on my RayBans, and take my Corvette out for a drive. I wave at every Corvette that I meet, and leave all my troubles, and a lot of other vehicles, behind me!!

I've had a Corvette for a long time. Different cars, Different times. The 'Wave' was common a long time ago, Times were vastly different then, and there was less traffic and less congestion on the roads. People who buy Corvettes are all different, and they all buy a Corvette for different reasons.

But in all things being Fair, the level of traffic and the all the different distractions we have now-a-days, it's hard to just keep your eyes on all that's going on around you as you drive. But there is a large group of 'Owners' who don't know the history of the Corvette and couldn't care less about the brotherhood as much as just owning a Corvette. To many, it's just another automobile. Maybe they are only leasing it? In a few years they'll move on to something else. You can't blame anyone just because they don't know the history !
