Nice little lift for anything you want to do. But still nothing like a 4 post for sure. Robert

I have them both, the bench mark is in the front of the garage. Once the old car is finish I'll be selling the smaller one.

That's my pic/C5 on a BendPak MD-6XP from a few years ago.

I still have this lift (in addition to three four posts) and have found it to be very versatile.

The 'woodwork' as someone mentioned, for the ramps is necessary if your car has a center height of lower than 5.5" or so. YMMV, but I didn't feel like scraping the bottom of my car at the time.

Here's a longer write up I did when I first bought it.
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-g...o-dial-up.html

I will always have a scissor lift.

The ability to move it around, lift just about any vehicle 'up' for wheels off work, detailing, etc. makes the sub $2K price worth it.

I have used it on 20 different cars/trucks with weights up to 5,000lbs. No concern at all about safety.. You couldn't push it 'over' if you wanted to (unless you didn't load it properly).

I bought it at www.bencostuff.com

The MaxJax wasn't available at the time I bought the scissor. That could be a good option for some, but I personally find the 'around the car' clearance invaluable.

Currently, the scissor lift is doing duty as jackstands for my Factory Five 'Cobra' project:

It's like any other two poster. It's attached to anchors in the floor.

The difference between this lift and a regular two post (other than physical size) is that it is installed with concrete anchors and bolts, rather than the traditional studs and nuts. This leaves a flush floor when you remove the bolts and lift posts.

yes I too FEEL kind of embarrassed wen I look at these pictures of CLEAN ...SPACIOUS...Garages...

Heck I have to move stuff around my work bench just to find a place for my coffee cup...

BUT I do agree that I too will always have a scissors lift just for doing wheel work... it did not take me long to discover that a 4 post lift ( I own 2 of them) just plain suck for doing wheel work...

That's one of the nicest shops I've seen. Well thought out, nice and clean with a place to put everything away. And a place to relax upstairs. My compliments.

What's with the last image of the Cobra body? It's transparent in that image. Who's the manufacturer of your "kit"?

Thanks much. It's been a great place for us to work and hang out in.

The Cobra kit is a Factory Five.

The pic above was photoshop'ed by a photographer friend of mine (Alex Bellus) on the day the kit arrived. We took a photograph of just the chassis on the lift, then put the body on and re-took it at the same angle. Then he made the body somewhat transparent in PS.

It came out pretty cool.. he's a great photographer.

More (probably too much detail) on the kit here:

Holy freaking moly! Nice Shop....wow.

To keep on the topic of the thread, if I could only have one lift, it would be a 4 post, however, that scissor jack lift looks perfect for the uses that people have previously mentioned.

4 post is the better option but as others have said, if there isn't enough space for a 4 poster these would come in handy. The other benefit to a jack like that is also the portability of the lift. For example my garage is technically a 2 car garage but it doesn't leave room to actually do any work on the car in that position so I move whatever car I'm working on to the center for easier access when working on them. The scissor lift or max jax would be ideal for that situation as they can be moved out of the way when not in use.
