I do think that this lift with the raised tracks arrangement is a pretty good setup. I have to admit though, that all sissors thing kind of freaks me out.
It looks like a nice and compact lift but only good for a few things like tires, brakes, oil changes small things like that. Maybe a rear swap. But you are not going to get the engine or torque out with a car on that lift. Just depends on what all you plan to do it.
It looks like someone placed a Corvette on an ironing board...
I don't have a strong enough stomach for that one. I will stick with a 4-post lift when the time comes. I'm not saying it's not a nice lift, I just would not feel comfortable working underneath it.
how do you simply roll that one away when you're done?
It is anchored just as any other two post lift. The advantage is you can unbolt it and roll the posts away for storage. I'm seriously thinking of getting one.

I do own own of these scissor lifts (not the one pictured however) mine has swing arms that move out to reach the frame...BUT I also own 2 four post lifts ...
First of all even an oil change is NOT so easy with the scissor lift but that is not its purpose...or at least not for my use...
Mine (the scissor lift) is used exclusively for 2 things....
1. Doing brake work ..or rotating tires...ever try to jack up a car do do brake work on a 4 post lift???
2. WAXING the car... just sit down with a beer and raise the car up to a comfortable height ...
(still not as easy to do as with a 4 post lift)
I'm kind of surprised at the "wood work" however...I have 2 16 foot 2x12's bolted to the floor that I drive up on...NOT for clearance BUT to make things easier to center the car on the lift...

BTW...I purchased mine abut 10 years ago at Carlisle and it was nowhere near that price ...
If you're using those scissor lifts you may as well be lifting the car yourself....those things are TERRIBLE. But I guess if you like the thrill of a near-death experience every time you want to do some work on your ride and you're cheap then those things will do just fine. I wouldn't half-*** when it comes to your vette, or any car for that matter. A little extra money in the beginning helps you save money in the long run. That maxjax actually is pretty safe from what I've seen/heard from other people. Each arm independently can support 2,500 lbs, and even low ceilings aren't a problem (although sometimes if you're in a home garage, the railing from your garage door could potentially hinder your lifting abilities). That said, as long as you read where they say you need 4" of concrete with the correct PSI and it's alot safer than most lifts, especially the SCISSOR . Plus as they say, you can bolt and unbolt to the anchors making it easy to store so you don't upset the wife by leaving out all your toys again..
