Have been in touch with a local shop and got a price for cam ,headers (3800.00) and if I put some other items on myself ( shifter, spoiler, wheels)I'll have about 30k in to it. Thinking I may just sell it unmodified and move up to a c6z. What would you do? Right now the car has 23k mi and is basically a garage queen. Just dont have the time away from work to drive it as much as i would like but, I'm NOT getting out of owning one. I cant see not having one
thanks

Based on your description and how you drive the car, I would move into the C6Z. However, realize you will be getting rid of the beautiful C5 design.
However, since you don't drive the current C5 that much, will moving into a C6Z be worth it?
That is exactly what happened to me last year. I saw a C6 Z that I wanted sooo bad. BUT I had C5 and didn't want to toss another $50,000 + in the toliet. So I completely went widebody, custom interior, DVD/Nav, Engine performance, and now you couldn't give me a C6 Z for it.
AND I don't feel bad saving a bunch cash.
Besides, it would be very costly to dump those Toyota headlights and install C5 pop-ups.
The first thing you need to decide is do you want to drive a C6 or a C5? You can mod the C5 to run with the C6. For my money the only C6 I will ever own is a C6 Z06 or a C6 Grand Sport Vert with a supercharger on it. 'Nuff said.
The C6 Z06 would be the same right? No time to drive it?
If you have the money and can get what your Vette is worth then do the C6Z but if you are gonna neglect it spend a little coin on the current C5 and up it output - you can easily make one of these hang with the C6 Z06 - it's not that hard to do (A stock one that is )
the lack of drive time is not by choice, trust me. I've had appointments and came home to get my car. It sucks having to keep it parked and live in a F250 SD. But thats what I do. If it was a auto i'd let the wife drive it to work everyday. I believe in using what you got. Putting no miles on a car is not what im about.
Would it be to get more performance or to simply move up to the next generation?
If the latter, I think it's important to remember that next April is when I'm hearing that the C7 will be out. If that's the case, you'll have spent a bunch of money to move up to a car that's still not the new generation.
