Don't believe all that you read. I have tested a GT500 and a new Z06,,, Acceleration is not even close. I have not road tested either one, so the Z06 might win in a tight course, where there are not long straights.

my "99" auto coupe has a blackwing, cat back, 3.15s and a tune and it will absolutly burn the tires bad even from a rolling start. I think its the "run craps" that are the problem! My first c5 with the 2.73s wouldn'd spin on a bananna peal. [until the 3.42s and other mods]
I bet you you've got 2.73s and don't realize it.

C6Z ($74,300 starting MSRP) > GT500 ($48,645 starting MSRP) It performs better, it's lighter, it's more comfortable, etc.

Are they really comparable? The GT500 is a modified version of a $25,000 platform. The C6Z is a modified version of a $50,000 platform. I wouldn't expect the GT500 to beat the C6Z.

Would it be more fair to compare the base C6 ($48,950 starting MSRP)?

The GT500's will NOT beat a C6 Z in a straight line or a turn. It's power to weight ratio is WAY worse than the C6Z. Not saying the Ford isn't quick BUT what you are feeling is the torque from the supercharger that makes them feel fast. They aren't. They usually run mid to upper 12's stock. C6 Z's run high 11's. Sorry i don't care if you've driven them both or not, just because they feel quicker doesn't mean they are. The GT500's are one of the worst bang for the bucks of any muscle/sports car out there. And don't think i'm a hater either because i love the GT500's, Ford GT's and Vette's too. If i was loaded a GT would be in my garage without hesitation
