Spend the money elsewhere (CAI, Intake, Headers) for now. The programmers will adjust your shift firmness and shift points in an A4, which can be useful/fun, but won't give you much in the way of performance. Once you've got a good set of hardware mods in place, consider a mail-order or, even better, dyno tune. The tune can accentuate/optimize the performance of other mods, but if you don't have any, it's not going to get you very far.

ECS has a mail order tune for just $149 that includes return shipping of your computer. (says $199 on their website, but it's really $149 for forum members) http://www.eastcoastsupercharging.co...ynotuning.html

Wayyyy better than a handheld and cheaper too! From the day I mailed my computer it came back 5 days later.

Dyno tune is great, a good street tune is even better, but you're looking at $400-$650 for that kind of thing..
