Have you seen the LeMans winning C5R in person? and the aero package used on that? They use a HUGE wing out back and never had any issues with "flying". I think some cannards or more front lip may be useful in balancing out the downforce on this thing, but I doubt there's any concern about it lifting.
Functional to me usually looks beautiful, but wings typically look so far out of place that it's hard to stomach having them on a car that isn't 100% for the track.
That being said I think the OPs wing looks better than most out there, however for some reason I find the C5R wing to flow a lot better with the car. Maybe if you painted the spoiler itself the color of the car and left the mounting arms black? I would also consider painting the fasteners black. I think seeing the bolts makes is what gives it that Erector look that someone referred to earlier.
I still think you did a fantastic job though and I applaud you for going through with it.
I actuali actually got a hold of pratt and miller about the c6r wing..it was 4000$...:-/ the c5r wing isnt made anymore except for a cheap 500$ knock off version on ebay. No data or specs for it either...and mounts to the trunk...blah. i actually liked the LG one more as far as looks go..but disnt see any data..and they wanted over 2k for everything. Kognition wings are made well enough to stand on plus all the tunnel data you could want. If anyone considers a functional wing..this is the one to have
If you haven't made one enemy today, your not having a GOOD DAY.
Very nice job on the install and for a 100% street car no, But for a track and street car Looks like for sure you have done your home work on what it takes to make the car works for the track for sure. Also like the way the car looks and sets to the ground.. Robert
Hey you are brave...I have a wing on my vette along with a body kit, but never tell anyone here on the forum cause no one likes em. lol So I just shared a secret that no one else here know's. I get alot of compliments on the car. greetings, Rob
**** yea man. I love it. When i get enough track experience to actually be able to use something like that i'll think about it. probably would have to rock a front splitter as well as supposedly the front end gets light on these cars.. is a functional front splitter in the works?
Remember, to each his own, and if you like it, that's all that matters. Honestly, I think too many Corvette owners are worried about what others think....I say, "DARE TO BE DIFFERENT!" and the best part is, you did the install yourself. Another bonus and sense of self-accomplishment.
