Default Throttle body question

Have a chance to purchase a Z06 throttle body. My 18,000 mile '99 is all stock except for exhaust upgrade, but no headers. Planning on maggie in the near future. Is purchase of Z06 throttle body recommended?

I would throw this up in the tech or forced injection section. Those guys have all kinds of mods and will have your answer posted, quickly.

Get you a 90mm LS2 T.B. There is a diff in the two the way they bolt up the LS2 is a 4 bolt hook up to the intake. And the ls1 & ls6 is 3 bolt hook up.. You will need the bigger one with the maggie are other F/I add on..... Robert

Don't waste your money buying a so-called "Z06 throttle body" because your stock throttle body on your '99 Vette is the same as the throttle body that came on the '01 thru '04 C5 Z06 vettes.
You will gain NO performance if that's what you're looking for.

Don't be fooled by "Z06 intake, Z06 maf, Z06 throttle body". Because these parts came on both the regular C5 and Z06.
The "Z06 intake" is the intake manifold that came on all C5 Vettes (LS1 & LS6) from 2001 to 2004. Same goes for the MAF sensor, 2001 to 2004 all Vettes had the same MAF. All C5's including Z06 came with the same throttle body.

That's understood. I'm just pointing out to the OP that certain parts (intake, MAF, TB) were not only LS6 (Z06) parts. Some people are mislead on this.
For example: the '01 to '04 intake manifold (on Corvettes and F-bodies) is usually referred to as the "LS6" intake. For this reason many people lead to believe only the Z06 came with this intake. Which is of course is false. All '01 to '04 LS1's came with the referred "LS6" intake.
Just trying to clarify a few things to the OP if they don't already know.

This past week - we installed an LS2 intake, 90mm throttle body and a 88mm MAF on my LS1. We retuned and dyno'd the car before and after to quantify what if any increases.

My car was originally stock with LT's, a Blackwing and a full tune done by Cody at Xtreme. It made 326 rwhp and 332 rwtq. Then we installed 3.90 gears and an RPM Level V M12 trans.....the car made 316 rwhp and 322 rwtq.

With the LS2 intake, throttle body and MAF and the gears, it made 326 rwhp and 326 rwtq. Then Cody ported the new intake, and retuned some more, the final numbers were 328 rwhp and 328 rwtq. So in essence I regained the loss from the gears and I'm back almost to where I started.

I have not driven it yet to see what SOTP shows, but I have to believe that it will feel more responsive.

So the conclusions that can be drawn from all of this is that there is about 10 rwhp and 10 rwtq from the LS2 throttle body, intake and MAF. Porting the intake is worth nothing. I have dyno sheets to support all of this BTW if anyone is interested.

Good info blacksedan87. I was recently wondering if I should have got an LS2 intake, TB and MAF for my 2000 LS1 instead of getting the '01+ LS1 intake and MAF. Now I'm certain there would've been very little increase, if any, going the LS2 route.

Idk why you'd go the LS2 intake route they flow less than the LS6 intake.
If your on a budget why not do the (drawing a massive blank) intake that has 4 bolts (for the LS2 TB) yet is the LS6 size. Damn thats bugging me TPIS?? Idk!
I cant find it, this is driving me nuts lol

YES !!! Got it for ya! pshew

No kidding, I thought the LS2 intake was (flow wise) the LS6 intake just utilized the 4 bolt 90mm TB.
Thanks for the post powerjunky.
