If you can make your up to Malibu along Highway 1, go visit Neptune's Net. I found the food to be ok but it's known more for it's backdrop in some movies and commercials.
Oh and if you absolutely have to do fast food and if it convenient for you whether in SD or LA, go visit an In N Out Burger.

Sort of depends if you are walking or renting a car and driving. Great place to go see and drive is the San Bernardino mountains...Big Bear Lake, Lake Arrowhead and Lake Gregory.
Top of the Hyatte. have ONE Black Martini(skip the whip cream have them stir in cream) great view from downtown all the way down to Sub Base and Balast point.
Head into Downtown into the Gaslamp district. There are few nice bars and restaurants to visit. I recommend the Gaslamp Strip Club (it's a steak place), Whiskey Girl (pretty nice bar to hang out), venture to Petco Park and you'll find the Tilted Kilt Pub and Eatery.

Whiskey Girl was very nice last night, Tilted kilt idk what to say plastic women there, I found it funny how Gaslamp Strip Club made it a point to have ITS A STEAK PLACE on the front lol
Yea PB (pacific Beach) is a must for the younger crowd. Women everywhere. Theres a crab shack on the beach too if you like seafood. I had fun there, a friend of mine took us through the back alleys and saw all ther youngsters having garage parties and playing beer pong and having a good time.
We also lit a fire over at Mission Bay aned had a few drinks. that was really nice and peaceful.
La Jolla is fun for a cruise. Tons of high dollar cars and people. Also go check out all the seals chillin out on the sand.
Theres a casino and an outdoor mall not far either. forget the town though.
