I put a brand new battery in it and programmed it per instructions in the owners book... Its a 99 so the switch is set to off on the FOB for passive but it still will sometimes lock and unlock the car... Locked the damn keys in the car on me too last week at the shop!
Anyway every day or two I have to reprogram it and it never says fob programed it just honks the horn and works again... Wondering why it only loses partial memory. My woman thinks her y2k we just got is freakin the fob out but her 2k fobs work perfect so I don't see that bein the problem... Anyone had a problem before similar to this? Fob losin memory and doing passive whenever it feels the need? Lol. My car is possessed.
SOB of mine works when it wants to. Mostly not though. I reprogram and it's ok for a day or so and then goes in the tank. I'm going to try a new batt and see if that helps.
I never had one in my 90 so I'm used to using the key anyway. It's a headache that's not worth the BS that comes with it to me.
The fobs appear to have a lifetime in them. Most appear to fail within 7-10 years. Batteries are one cause as you tried already and another is the case of a broken connection on the circuit board of the 4-pin device in there. But still many others fail without any obvious signs and all you can do is to replace it. Gene Culley has a good price on them. www.gmpartshouse.com

by the time I find in one on that website I'll be too old to drive the thing.
Actually I find that website extremely difficult to navigate through. I've tried more than once. today was my last day!

If what DeeGee posted doesn't solve the problem, try a new fob. The web site for gmpartshouse.com is not really all that difficult to navigate - just click on the link above, then on Corvette Parts List on the menu in white, then on C5 Corvette. The fobs with part numbers and prices are about half way down the listing.

If you don't use the passive, then buy a 2000. They are interchangable but no passive on the 2000. Best thing is, the 2000 is cheaper and has a lower failure rate.
DO NOT BUY A 2001-2004. IT WILL NOT WORK WITH YOUR CAR.
