why all the hate for the LT1? I put one in my C3 in about 2003 or so and love it. I have not found it hard to work on at all so far, but I know one day the opti will go out, however, I do not think it will be to bad. Maybe my experience is due to having some room to work as I have less crap in the C3.

All I know, is with a little work that LT1 has an old school sound and I can set off car alarms. I get over 20mpg easy in my C3, and the damn thing will run under 13 (according to a g-tech anyway). I love that little engine!

**on a side note, the L98 is probably the coolest looking modern vette motor. Makes me think a giant pissed off spider is sitting on top with those long runners.

LOL @ giant pissed off spider. I thought the same when I saw the LT5.

I had 3 opti-sparks go bad on me in 1 LT1 engine. 1 of the times was due to the water pump going bad. (Brilliant design) The LT1 does sound great. And way better than the L98. But like I said, if I'm going to go with a more modern swap, I'll put an LM7 in it. A 5.3 will make more power and torque than the L98 and will be 100x less complicated and more reliable. LOL

I don't HATE the LT1, I just don't like it. LOL One of the bigger benefits to getting the 91 is that if I do the motor swap, I'll still have cheaper insurance.

If I was going to swap today, would go with an LS, but at the time those motors weren't worth the extra expense of the swap. Yeah, water and spark never mix. Esepcially when the pump starts to go and leaks out the weep hole.....onto the opti. i think a bit part of why I don't mind too much is with the long nose of the C3 and the switch to the elctric fans I could change one with out too much headache if I needed.

LT5 also has that spider look to it. Those engines just look better than the plastic covers of the LT1 and LS series.
