Have LEDs on my 62 for brake/turns signal, and they are much brighter than the original bulbs. But they came as complete assemblies, that included a stock looking type lens.
LEDs also come on quicker (.4 second from what I have read), and alert the idiot tailgating you a little more time to react.
I also have them as my front running lights on the 62, and due to less current and heat, they do not "transfer" the amber coating from the bulb to the glass lens, like incandescent bulbs do.

I'm doubting that .4 second quicker, but I'll let you try to time the difference. You can get brighter with Sylvania Silverstar incandescents. Problems with them, they are expensive and short life span. The only place I think you MAY and I emphasize MAY make a case for LED's is in DRL/Turns. The incondescents get very hot and many times crack the housing. As you know simply replacing with LED's will cause turns to hyperflash. If you try to compensate for the hyperflash with resistors, the resistors will get very hot. Where will you mount them? Not on anything plastic I hope! Instead of resistors you can get a "hyperflash harness". That installs up in the dash on drivers side ... cost about $75 and is a PITA to install. I played the game and now I'm back to stock incandescents. But good luck to you!
It's better to keep quiet and have people THINK you're ignorant then to open your mouth and have it confirmed.
Just thought you'd take the day and find a way to blow the candles off someone's cake for absolutely no reason, ehhh?
