Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that Z51s were optioned with Active Handling and all Corvettes got Traction Control. (Although I may be mistaking my information here)
I don't recall anything in Corvette Black Book on that issue. As far as I know they are separate unpaired options. In '01 and up, AH became standard and they got the second generation AH/TC and the new software was less zealous about activating. In second gen, you don't have to be stopped to engage Competition mode either.

My 00 manual has the z51 option and traction control but no active handling. There is not AH symbol over the button and I can hold it down forever and the only thing that the DIC ever says is traction control off.
Car didnt come with an owners manual so maybe Im just doing something wrong to activate then? Dead stop, I hold the button down and nothing. Just TC on and off.

5 minutes was the longest i held it before i got bored. There are never any codes on the DIC so I would think that if it had the AH and it was broken a code would show.
And don't we love it. I test drove a couple 370z's and realized how spoiled I am on torque. Those cars feel so slow since they don't make any torque. I got back into a Z06 and felt right back at home.

Yep. 55-60MPH, 2nd gear to an immediate 3rd gear pull... Oooooooh yeah.
