I thought about covers, but like everyone else, couldn't get over the cheesy look. Maybe better in person, but still seem fake. I just did mine this weekend. A lot of work, but worth it.

Those caliper covers make the brakes look like something that you would find on a toy car.

Please don't buy those horrid covers.

Either paint them yourself, or you can buy an extra set of calipers/brackets, send those out and have them powdercoated, then get a shop to swap them out for you. you can then resell your calipers and brackets and get that money back.

The biggest issue I have with the covers, is first the fake bolts that are painted on and second the oversize to appear that you have a one of the high dollar brake kits on. If they made the covers that were just slightly larger than the stock calipers and looked stock it might be different. I attend the Local Cars & Coffee each month and there are a lot of Ferrari's, Lambo's Aston Martin's and 911 RS GT3 Porsches there, I can just image what they would be saying as soon as they got up close.
But as is always stated on the forum, your car, your money do what you like, not what we like.

I did the same thing back in '05. I don't think it cost more than $7 to $10 including the artist brush kit also from Home Depot. They still look terrific after all these years!

You can easily do one wheel a night and drive the car each morning. Or do 'em on a weekend and DD the car Monday.

I also put on the Delco performance rotors. Be sure to consider using a high temp clear coat and paint the hat area (I did about 3 or 4 coats) before you install them. Again, after all these years, no rust on the rotor hat area where I sprayed 'em.

I have painted the calipers on my last three cars. It is a simple, cheap, easy way to make your car look 1000 times better.
As for the caliper covers... I feel that those should be sold at PepBoys next to the stick on hood vents and the plastic "chrome" hub cap covers.

If you do decide to paint them yourself, I would consider doing a red caliper, and a BLACK supporting bracket. A lot of people just choose to go all red but I think the black bracket makes you notice the caliper more and gives it a cleaner look.
Also when you do the painting it is easier if you buy the brush on paint for the caliper and the spray on for the bracket. This way you cna just take the bracket off, go to an area where you can get a little over spray (like your yard), hang the bracket from a metal coat hanger and just spray. Good Luck

FAKE chit is always cool!
Why try to 'pretend'? You're not fooling anyone except yourself.

Whats the best paint kit to use? I spray painted my calipers on my WS6 last year on the cheap...it came out fine but the paint looks to have faded some. I want something nicer for my Vette.

The whole "ricer" thing is bs imo. There are a TON of items people put on vettes all the time to make them look better yet adds no performance value to your car.

If you like the look of Caliper covers buy them. They are a hell of a lot easier to clean then calipers, painted or not.

Also, they bolt on rock solid. easy install too.
I agree

Paint Them!

I (and many people I know) point and laugh at cars with fake big-brake caliper covers. painted on fake bolt heads, etc.

Just like I point and laugh at cars with big wings on the back...
Just like cars with fartcan mufflers...
and stick on fake vents and chrome mudflap ladys.

And I know I'm not alone. Just remember, if you have the fake big-brake covers, there are a bunch of people that are seriously pointing and laughing at you every day.

HA - HA !! Look at those fake brakes! Couldn't afford the real thing!
