I just finished a major brake/rotor overhaul upgrade and painted the calipers. I had the covers on to add a little bling until I needed the brake job. The covers are better than the unpainted caliper in my opinion, and are quite inexpensive when you consider that you can resell them here for a $50 discount from new. I do like the painted calipers better now that they're done.

The whole "ricer" thing is bs imo. There are a TON of items people put on vettes all the time to make them look better yet adds no performance value to your car.
There is a big difference between something that looks good and doesnt add performance and something that is meant to look like it adds performance and actually does nothing.

I couldnt agree more. The MGP are not trying to mimic calipers. They clearly look like covers for your calipers.

As opposed to:

If you like the look of Caliper covers buy them. They are a hell of a lot easier to clean then calipers, painted or not.

Also, they bolt on rock solid. easy install too.
I like these covers as well, my nasty looking ruff silver calipers are an eye soar and I feel like going through the hasel of painting them but I also have a question to make sure of first these look like they add some size to the caliper but will they clear the 17" Z06 wheels on the front?

Personally I think the covers look cheap and dont see how they will keep the calipers cool as they are air cooled and they will restrict the flow of air. You can pull the calipers and paint them in a day or two if you can afford to have the car down for that long, plus it looks much better IMO.

Why would you want to insulate your brakes? The brakes on the C5 get too hot as it is without a big piece of metal further restricting airflow.

As to whether they look good or not, to each their own. Personally I think they look awful...

I have the MGP version and was one of the first to install them. They were easy to install, do not get very much dust, and clean up easy and fast. I like them better than the painted stock calipers. And to all of you who squawk about "phony covers" please consider the covers on your fuel rails. If you do not like covers, please take off your fuel rail covers because, by your definition, they are "ricer".

What about reduced ability for outside air to cool your brakes? Is the bling worth the brake fade?

You don't loose much power by having plastic covers over your fuel rails... Also, I don't think they look bad. I think caliper covers look cheap... That's jmho though. You make the payments so you get to decide what goes on your car. Don't suggest that people that don't like them should go remove an OEM component because they also cover something. By that logic should we all go remove the fuel door too?

Quoting from MGP

Enhance wheel appearance, reduces brake dust, caliper heat & brake fade
Their philosophy will probably be that they're acting as a heatsink which will be true to a very small degree but this would be offset by the shielding of air flow directly onto the calipers.
