I am considering the Hankook V12 EVO stock size for my 2002 vert. I have seen them mentioned in two different threads on a tire search. I don't race and don't push the envelope too much. For the price, non-runflats, plus the performance seems like a good value. My other I was considering was the Sumitomo's HTRZII. After reading bad reviews at tire rack, I bumped up the price to the Hankooks I have the sumi's v rate on a dodge and like them, but upon reading about sudden deflation and splitting without a spare, I decided to spend the extra 150 bucks. Thoughts? Oh, I am a little worried about getting stuck. Will have the goo and a kit and a compressor, but can't fix a split or gouge. Don't want to spend the extra thousand for that insurance, though. Maybe I should? I see different comments on that.
My experience with the Sumitomos is they stink. I drove about 500 miles on a set of Hankook V12s before I sold the car I mounted them to and they were fine. Supposedly you won't get as much life out of them as you would out of a better tire.
My personal favorite for a daily car is by far the Toyo T1R. I know it's not cheap but it lasts way longer and stay quiet throughout it's whole life. I was very excited when the person I bought my C5 from chose to mount new T1Rs on the Vette instead of something cheaper.
I have also ran Falken Fk452s and can say that those are pretty good but after 10k miles get annoyingly loud. What stinks is they have about 10k of tread left at that point so you just have to live with it.
If you are on a tight budget I would say get the V12s. Definitely better than the HTRZs.
I got the v12s a year ago for front. DD, no problems. I wish I had got the rears too, but was low budget at the time. Now the rears are $30 more each. I think the tires are just fine. Price is good. go to discount tire direct. They match anyone's price and give you free shipping.

My car has Sumitomo's HTRZII, on it now. The po told me they had about 15,000 on them and they need replaced. I just bought the Hankooks for mine, will put them on in a week or so.
+1 on Hankooks. I'm very happy with my Hankooks. The difference in the ride is incredable. Cornering didn’t suffer much but the ride out weighs any loss. They look fine. The profile is a little taller than the GY run flats. Did I mention how well they ride? Bought me a 12V compressor and other goodies at harbor freight. Happy for the last 3 months.

Just put a set of the Hankooks on mine - only have about 100 miles on them so far. Time will tell whether they will be a good choice, but the price was right and the reviews were very good.

I drive the same way. My vette is more of a cruiser then anything else. I'm looking for good performance with a good tire wear timeline. I have heard nothing but good things about V12's. I just bought my Hankook setup earlier today. 275/35/18 front and 285/35/19 rear. I cant wait to get them.
I think I'm going to take my Michelins down the road and burn off whats left of them. I have been wanting to roast my tires since I bought my vette but I didn't want to use up my tred. Seems like a good opprotunity.
considering all of the great reviews i have seen on this hankook tire, for a daily driven non tracked car i cant imagine spending 3 times that amount on tires.
I have about 3000 miles on the Hankooks now. I bought them from Tire Rack, shipped them to a local shop that mounted and road-force balanced them. I don't push them to the limits, so I can't speak to performance although they seem to be as good as the G/Y runflats.
However, the noise reduction as absolutely GREAT!
V12 EVO's here, for about 1 1/2 years. Pretty happy with performance, Maybe a little noisy, but so is my exhaust.
I think they're a good value.
Mine seem incredibly quiet, but still fairly new. My only gripe is they are definitely on the soft side (yes I know they are non-runflats).
Pretty happy so far.
The Hankook it is. I have to order. A local guy has them within striking distance of tire rack with shipping. I'll check that Discount Tire suggestion above and compare.
