LOL I didn't even see that. To the OP- you are better off just biting the bullet and getting a Corsa system right off the bat instead of getting something you might end up disappointed with and then having to buy yet a 2nd exhaust replacement. You'll have a hard time avoiding the drone ranges with most aftermarket exhausts especially with an auto.
One vote for XS Power exhaust. Sounds nice on my A4 daily driver. Still puts a smile on my face when I remember what the stock system sounded and looked like.
Funny to hear other GHL owners say there is no drone with an A4. For me, with an A4, the drone was so bad I couldn't stand to drive the car anymore until I switched to the Z06 TI. Bottom line is -- you have to drive one with the exhaust installed before you have the exhaust put into your own car! Every person's ears are different.
i found my Corsa for insanely cheap, and it was only missing "brackets and bolts" that no sane person would use as a permanent solution anyway. spend a few weeks looking around for deals, even if it means browsing junk yards for wrecked cars. its an exhaust, after all.. its kinda hard to find one "used" that will impede performance of it at all, unless you consider the cats being burned out from running rich or whatnot - but thats not that much to replace.
so check forums, Craigslist, ebay, etc and try to find what looks likes a good/safe deal. failing that.. man the Corsa is just built for an A4
My Borla stinger have no drone at cruising speeds, but they have to be installed correctly. i have had them for over 6 years now and absolutely love them.
i'm with flaagan. how would you install an axle-back exhaust incorrectly? i have borla stingers and they drone like crazy. but it doesn't bother me even though i'm old.
i talked to a rep from borla while researching their atak system, and he explained to me how the drone works. it seems [engineers feel free to comment] that in the soundwave world, certain frequencies cancel out others. the low frequencies actually cancel out some of the sound waves of the human voice etc., so while you think it's the noise or loudness of the exhaust causing you difficulty holding a conversation or listening to music, it's actually some of those frequencies being cancelled out by frequencies in your exhaust and they're not there anymore to be picked up by your ears.
which brings me to borla's atak system. supposedly they are louder than the stingers with some of the drone eliminated by cancelling the offending frequencies with their new muffler design. of course the trade-off is a slightly higher pitched exhaust note, similar to, but supposedly not as high as the corsa. they have a new version of the atak due out the first or second week of june which is supposed to eliminate even more drone, with a larger muffler body, but i couldn't pin him down as to whether that also means an even higher pitched exhaust note.
current atak system is part #140357, the new one is supposed to be #140428.

When did you purchase your GHL system and whom did you purchase it from?
thats cool, never seen that chart. i was just browsing forums, ebay, etc and found a Corsa "unknown" exhaust on Ebay, saying "its missing bolts and a bracket, maybe other parts, look at the pics" and it was a complete Corsa Pace car - for $400 shipped! luckily enough I love how it sounds - i had no idea about drone or not, but at $400 i couldnt go wrong.
Billy Boat PRT's on mine and love them...$950 to my door from marylandspeed.com I have A4 and I drive a 45 minute commute everyday on highway and some of it hills, 65 to 70 mph cruising speed w/ very little drone and at take off in city driving a nice throaty rumble. I did a lot of research and listened to alot of sound clips and even asked here and that was my final choice
If you can wait till late August and go to Corvettes at Carlisle you can get the system put on for free!! I did this last year..Bought Corsa Pace car exhaust for my 99 A4 from West Coast Corvettes for $1100 and Corsa put them on for free..
