I think it may have something to do with my factory alarm.
thoughts?

Yep DeeGee was right! My issue turned out to be fuse #32. Thanks!

I have a 1999 convertible and when I pop the trunk it doesn't open very far. I did a search on a trunk spring mod but nothing came up. Can someone point me in the right direction or explain it to me please?

it's a simple spring that mounts on one of the bolts for the catch on the deck lid. Several of the vendors have them.

It might help to clean out the 20 year old dirty, dried up grease from the latch assembly with solvent and then add new grease.

I had the same issue, looked at every fuse, relay, checked voltages... etc. etc. etc.

Problem was that I did not understand the lock-out function. When the key is not in the off position, i.e. when the key is turned to ignition on, the lock-out prevents the boot open function. So if you turn your ignition key, neither the remote nor the truck release button works. Turn the ignition key back and the functionality is there again.

I installed FOG lights on my Z06 and had the ignition key always on, only connecting / disconnecting the battery itself. There should be a message in the dash "locked out when ignition on".

Great way to waste half a day!
