Out for a cruise tonight and stopped in for a coffee and there parked infront of a convience store is a Callaway Grande Sport...talk about a Big boy...I fell in love with that car on the spot. The owner was very nice and inbetween the mosquito bites gave me the lowdown on his car. Now all I need is another $60 grand. lol I love my C5 but the GS sure got my blood pumping. Anyone drive a Callaway GS and what was your impressions? Rob
That car definitely has all the right features for what ever you would want to do with it. I wonder if the owner will ever use even half of it's capabilities ? The huge $ entry fee to that game will keep me from playing.
The only Callaway I've seen up close was a C6. A guy in his 60s pulled up next to me at my bank. When I approached him I introduced myself and mentioned that I'ld never seen one of these before. He just looked at me and said, "yea, they're rare," and walked away.
I guess he was either in a hurry or just had more money than time on hand or a slim(very slim)chance it wasn't even his car or lastly just not an enthusiast. Either way, I had to google it at a later time in the day if I wanted to learn anything about these.
WOW!!! These babies are nice.
606hp available in vert and coupe. GS and non-GS. 6 speed man or paddle. It is about the same price as the std ZO6. However, it has 101 more hp.
652hp available in the ZO6 platform. It is a little lower in price then the std ZR1 and has 14 more hp.
If you are looking for a little more than you can option up to a supercharged 650bhp and 700bhp, respectively.

Have never driven one, but have seen quite a few of them when visiting Superior Chevy in Kansas City. Awesome looking cars. Way out of my price range though.

Was at a dealership in Dallas with a friend having his soon to be aquired 'vert checked out and they had a full compliment of Callaway cars. Nice rides, but underpowered for the money. They all had Maggies and all made less power than my A&A LS6, if I recall correctly. I don't think any of those HP figures are rear wheel. I would however, still love to have one in the A6 Grandsport Convertible variety!

Callaway's are complete warranteed cars with custom body treatment, interiors and performance options available. Not "tuner" engine tweek.

The price reflects the entire package.
Obviously, the $22000 price premium reflects the entire basic package, but I wouldn't exactly call it complete! A big part of that package is apparently the "Callaway" name. The custom body treatment is primarily the "Power Bulge", which is a factory hood with a windowed bulge attached to clear the blower. The big polished blower is nice to look at, though, as are the custom exhaust tips. The interior on the cars appear to be stock plus badging, some stick on and some embroidered. Oh, and OZ racing wheels. Did I mention the badges? So I guess it comes down to how much a 3yr/36000 mile warranty is worth to you, because you can get the same blower kit, a tune, Lloyds floor mats, custom billet badges, a proper custom hood, a catback exhaust, custom wheels of your choice, plus (items not included in the Callaway package) a built transmission with converter, headers, and methanol injection. This will allow you to safely and reliably put over 700hp to the ground. I like the cars for what they are, but let's not kid ourselves. They are not that special! There is a reason that you, I, and many others have built our own "packages"!

Reason: Forgot to add custom wheels to the diy package!

I believe you've never driven one???
A friend has a '08 3x Black Vert Auto. Very nice handling Car and more power then my C5. The Callaway "badges" and Silver "hood Bulge" got many more looks then my Car, from Portland to San Fran to Reno for Hot August nights... 5,200 miles, we had a great trip, with both Cars.
We also visited Callaway in Cali. Pete was a very nice knowledgeable guy, and he showed us the other options you can purchase, from brakes to interiors, also the C16 that was being built. They went over the Car from top to bottom, as my Buddy had the diffuser installed on the sides of the exhaust tips. Expensive but a nice piece of work. It still is a Corvette, but with the Callaway touch. Callaway also tries to keep an up to date record of each Car, so that future Owners will know who owned the car before them, and what was done.

You are correct, I have never driven one! What's your point?
It is not hard for me to see why a modded C6 vert would get more looks and attention than a stockish looking C5 vert. Also it makes sense that the car might feel stronger than yours. How much boost you running? 1/4 mile E.T.? The Callaway (non-Z06) car went 11.0 with a pro driver and a sticky tire. My car goes 11.4 all day long with 250lbs of non-modded Me driving it on taller/heavier than stock, street tires carrying an extra 100lbs of stereo equipment.
My point is, for the money, you could build a better, more complete car than you could buy from Callaway or a Callaway authorized dealer. The "Callaway touch" alone isn't worth the money, to me. I personally would buy a GS convertible and put the "Mr PBDY touch" on it with the help of some of our forum vendors and save the dough while out showing and out going that Callaway touched car! This is JMHO though, and does not necessarily reflect the views of this forum.
To some, the name of Callaway, or Lingenfelter is worth much more than the actual mods. I call them "Checkbook customs". All of my mods are done by "Dave". Well worth it to me.

Just went to their website. There weren't any prices listed, which tells you something. Liked some of their interior designs, but that "PepBoy" hood bulge is terrible. I notice that almost everything is optional.

By who's standard?
Callaway builds production quality cars, not one off Procharged custom rides with your choice of no cats and optional cam surge. They won't sell you a $4k fuel system for your TVS car either.
If you or anyone else can build such a better car why aren't you in business doing it? You make it sound so simple. I wonder why GM gives Callaway a blessing that no one else gets...could it be work quality?
