Aerosol brake cleaner will kill Black Widows almost instantly. And it's cheaper than aerosol bug sprays. I've also used a road flare for night hunting around the property. They won't hide from the red glare of the flare like they do with a flashlight. A flare will make 'em nice and crispy.

My preference is still my right boot though...

Sometimes yes. I want to get them while they're outside, before they manage to get inside. Our Rotties have always been curious about anything that moves at night (bark scorpions, spiders, etc) any of which may be fatal to a dog.

I used to collect scorpions and sell them to labs which extract the venom.
