Great price. If it is optioned the way you want it, the right color combo and has the performance axle ratio then do it. 02's have all the performance of the 01+ changes, without any oil consumption (01's) or fuel issues (later 03's and 04's)

Awesome price and you'd wax the new Mustang.

What's to think about here?

I paid more than 13,500 for my 99 FRC 7 months ago. Give me a nice well cared for C5 at half the price of the 5.0 and let me spend the difference modding to my taste and I'll be a happy camper. Mustangs, V6's and V8's are like bellybuttons, and not that great to look at. If I HAD to have a new car the 5.0 wouldn't be that bad of a choice though.

Ok well I've about decided on the corvette talked to my brother. I'm going to test drive and see how I like it. Gears are 2.73 it's Millinneum Yellow I'll see if I can post some pics soon. Now I get to start to think about what I wanna change...thought maybe about a gun metal?! (dark grey/silverflake). And whatever mods would be the best tune up if I can find a good place in Arkansas. Along with whatever the experts here may suggest. I can tell this will be a long project too bad it has 75,000 miles already lol...let the mod idea and any other suggestions start.

Check codes: hold options button and then press fuel button for times before you purchase. Make sure there are not any major issues.

I have a 2002 Convertible since new, and currently has 77K on the clock and I can honestly tell you that the car runs just as good as the day I picked it up from the dealer. I have maintained my Vette meticulously since day one and if your brother did the same and the car checks out good with no codes then you should grab it and not look back. No doubt the car will run great for a long time. Good luck bro!

At 75,000 mi, that fella isnt anywhere near out of breath. I have a buddy with a 01 Z thats near stock, that runs like a scalded ape and its got over 100,000 mi. I say go with a real CAI,headers ,stall, gears and a good tune and you should be near12 flat. I would spend the cash on the mods first, really love that vette and then go for the silverflake paint!!

Okay cool

1st thing to do is invest in a set of 3.42's or minimally 3.15's and it will feel/perform like you gained 100 HP over the 2.73's - Main thing is the PCM will need to be set to 3.42 option (Any local tuner can do that with Hp tuners)

Here is a chart showing the different MPH Vs RPM's on various Gear sets

Thanks,Matt

The 2.73 gears are going to feel a bit sluggish, along with the torque management in the software, so just be prepared for that.

Get a decent used set of 3.42 gears here on the forum, maybe a stall converter to go with it if you want since you'll have it all apart there, and afterward get it tuned and that torque management removed (or at least minimized), and you will see a HUGE difference.

I've been looking around the site and found some other vette's priced a few thousand more than the 02 LS1 350 with 75k that I'm looking at. This got me to thinking what would everyone here be willing to pay for his car? Would I be better off saving a little more and looking for a Z06 so maybe I wont spend more in mods? I know everyone has said it a good deal, but just wondering.

This is awesome. I've been trying to figure out the rear in this car. I think it has 3.73's just by the RPM's it's at at 70mph. I knew they weren't 2.73's from the getgo.

Well I've talked myself out of the 5.0. It's now either my brothers vette or shop around and maybe find another one. I just thought 13,500 was a unbeatable price.

He's giving you a good price. If the car is solid (and knowing who owned it and how they cared for it should give you extra comfort in buying), then get it.

Default continue to ponder

If I was your brother I would put the car up for sale and sell it from under you. The price, care, and miles are all excellent and you should be all over a known quanitity.

With all the questions you would think your considering purchasing an Edsel. Buy and Enjoy!

He isn't wanting to get rid of it, but said if I wanted it he would to me. Only reason I'm on the fence is cause I've been saving for a 4-door 4x4 diesel truck lol. A corvette is a complete opposite. However, I was thinking for that price maybe I could sale my car and get a real car (vette) and in a year or two possibly either keep the car or resale it. Then I debated on buying it and if i get in bind with my truck now just sale vette, but wasn't sure of it's actual resale price.

Now I understand! The truck would probably be the way you should go. Sorry for the confusion

No problem. I don't forsee any problems out of my truck, but it's been thru hell and back. However, I was wanted a corvette and said I would get one. Just thought I wouldn't be able to pass it up. What would you think the going price would be on a stock 2002 let's say 120,000 in pretty good condition?
