Absolute widest tire produced?
Theres always talk about how 1st-3rd is useless just because of traction.
Two things...
One- I do not want that, dead hook first is the goal.
Two- I want to fit the absolute widest tire on a vette
I'll get the 19" rears widened but it looks like the widest tire is on 21" rim that uses a 375 (according to tirerack.com)
I can tub the car myself which I plan on doing. With the wide body kit alone you can run a 345.
JETZ I know your tubbed with 345's, how much space did you gain from doing so?
I don't plan on putting slicks on because of their ability to drive in the rain(if I get caught in it) I didn't know if that's the widest tire that tirerack offers for sale.
I'm not some member wantin to put twenty-foh's on my whip lol
So this is a serious question

Thanks for the help in advance
And thanks JETZ for the pics you will most likely post
(which I don't mind) How about this?

I searched thru pirelli's website and couldn't find anything bigger than 345.
GO with a Drag Radial on a 15" rim
or at least a DR on a 17" rim
19 and 20s rims will not allow a tall side wall which you need for Dead Hook
Hoosier 18900 36.0/17.0-16 section width 21.7"
or
Hoosier QUICK TIME DOT 17210 33X22.50-15LT 15" rim and 21.7" wide

Thanks for the info. I forgot to ask for your help specifically in my first thread. Any other ideas?

I'm just wondering if the sidewall is huge.

The tub gains you about 3 inches if I remember correctly...well that's what she said!!!

I'm reli considering those M/T's I posted earlier. Can you checkvem out? Do the sizes look right to you? Pirelli is too big of a rim. Im really hoping these M/T's can fit.
As far as dead hooking with 850rwhp but still having a tire for long trips and inclement weather - forget it. You're not gonna find a tire that can do both.
Dead hooking with 850rwhp is full slick territory. Reasonable traction would be a large drag radial.
Rain or long trips you're not gonna wanna run slicks or drag radials or anything of the sort. Even the most streetable drag radials (like Nittos) last fairly brief miles and generally are iffy at best in the rain (especially as they wear - which they do quickly). Nevermind the BFG and especially the MT drag radials - dangerous in bad weather.
Another option would be a sticky road race oriented tire like the Michelin pilot sport cups, pirelli corsa, nitto RII, toyo RA1s, etc.. They will hook better than any normal street tire, but obviously not as good as a drag oriented tire.
Personally I'd just run a big street tire (BFGs, Michelins, Pirellis etc in the 315+ range) for daily driving, bad weather, road trips, etc... Get another set of wheels for the slicks for the track when you need to hook. You're never gonna hook 850rwhp in 1st on the street anyway. Crap, I barely have over 400rwhp and I can't even hook with 335 KDW2s. With 850rwhp you'll spin the tires at highway speeds easily.

I'll prolly just go to 345's. Until something comes out for a 20" rim.
Thanks a lot Dope. That really cleared things up
