16 years, well, well, a few things you may need to know, keep the foot light on the pedal, pretend Dad is always sitting next to you and remember, most men on this forum waited years raising a family driving Datsuns, Colts and Hondas until they could afford one of the best Corvette on the market, makes us proud and drive her with care... also enjoy this forum... My first car at 16 was a Dodge Dart slant 6 225 c.c., you are very lucky young man, very lucky..
My first car was/still is a salvage title Aveo that I bought with my own money. At least when I find my vette I'll be able to drive it knowing that I purchased it myself through my own hard work.
At least the OP seems to be more mature than the norm, and realizes how lucky he is.
Congrats! And welcome to another younger owner(21, bought mine on my own at 20)! Love the color also
I wanted black but TR was my second choice.
My first car was a '06 Silverado 1500 with a lift and big tires. Drove it all through high school then sold it bought a 4th Gen Camaro and kept working my butt off to finaly get my 'Vette!
Have fun and enjoy it that's what they're made for!
My son bought a 78' vette at 15. Probably 185 horsepower, no problems. He bought a 6 speed 98' while home on leave from the army at about age 21. Had it a week, thought the traction control would control the traction, ended up in the tree's totaled. Has had a 99' for the last 6 years, no problems. Please don't learn the hard way. Enjoy but don't underestimate the power, only takes a second to get away from you. Oh, very nice looking car!
I'm sorry to hear that about his '98
Its really too bad that they didn't come standard with active handling initially. Some people don't even know the difference though.

If it's a 98, you received a little benefit from the previous owner(s) as the chrome exhaust tips and 5 spoke polished rims have been added, The factory stock 98 had none of those.
I know The guy selling the car didn't seem to know anything about corvettes /: The chevy dealer that sold my dad a corvette a couple months ago didn't even know what a HUD was

Its unfortunate that you two feel that way, and you don't know either of my parents. I can assure you that neither of them are nuts. Whether I'm too young or not, is a matter of opinion I guess. And its funny you should say that, because I just quit my job at McDonald's for a job at a local grocery store
Congrats - you are very fortunate to have parents that put that much trust in you - please please do not disappoint them.
Helped my oldest by a GSXR at age of 17 & it was stupid fast but he survived 6 years on it and I helped him finance an '03 Z06 to get him off the bike - his mom and I sleep much better at night

Congrats and be careful. I got my 1st Vette at age 20 in 1972 while in the Air Force - a 69 - 427. I've had one ever since - currently a black 98! Enjoy and respect the car and your parents. Zuti
Congratulations and the best of luck with your Vette. Just remember, there are going to be a lot of knuckleheads who will want to street race you, do yourself and your parents a favor and DON"T. You drive a Vette now and you have nothing to prove to anybody, so with that being said go enjoy yourself, your a lucky kid!
In before wrecks Daddy's car. I'm sure they pay your $300 month insurance too right?
I'd respond to your first statement, but I don't even know what it meant... As for the insurance, no, they don't pay for it. I have a job, but you already knew that, if you read my previous post. I'd be paying the monthly payments too, if my parents hadn't decided to pay cash to avoid the extra loan on their credit. I'll be paying for the gas as well.

OK, let's just say the have NO common sense.
I had an 87 Vette sitting in my driveway, when I bought My 02. My 16 year old wanted that car in the worst way. It was the last thing I would have done for him, letting him have that car.
It's bad enough being inexperienced on the road, let alone in a Vette. I feel like I did him and the other drivers on the road a favor.

As for you good luck and I wish you the best.
Well, I'll have to respectfully disagree with you, and leave it at that, because I'm not going to argue with you.
Thanks for the best wishes
My Dad would have never bought me a Vette, he did cosign for a '63 Rambler though, so that was the first car!
All the bills were mine, and no complaining!
Of course this was before I trashed his '68 Impala...............oops........
Good luck and have fun with it!
my first car at 16 was a 72 nova with a 327 and all kinds of engine mods. lets see i hit two trees, a garage, a big ol checker cab (which didn't budge). 16 and speed dont mix. be careful and enjoy!!
