The word is he was transferred to the Buick division, but I think his work on the C5 was without a doubt, the best since Bob McLean and the final work by Larry Shinoda on the 1963 SWC was the automotive design statement of the century.
But now we into the futuristic / "Transformers" designers captivated with with sharp angles and razor edges. I'm too old to even get enthusiastic about the new designs, but that's just me.
At how good the C5 looks to me. I usually don't care for the more rounded cars. I think the Nissan Z cars are about the most ugly things on the road. The rounded fenders and lines on the pre 2009 F150 looks terrible to me. But I think the C5 is the best looking Corvette ever made (although I love the 63-67's) and it doesn't have a sharp line on it.
A older lady at the dentist office told me after she ask if she could take a picture of my car. "I love your car and I don't even like sports cars" I guess you don't have to like "sports cars" to know a good looking car when you see one.
I know this is an old thread, but I just picked up a C5 as a trade on a 2000 WS6 TA. I popped the hood and found two signatures, one I believe is John Cafaro, the other, I have no idea. If anyone has insight, it would be much appreciated!

My guess would be Dave Hill, chief engineer for C4.
It was John Cafero and Harry Ioveno who formed Wheel2Wheel and made the first two Z06 Convertibles--one yellow and one black.
For those who may not remember, or haven't heard of, Wheel to Wheel, they were once one of the premier car/engine building companies in the world. They had both Kurt Urban AND Billy Briggs, both renowned engine builders, some great sheet metal guys and body men, and Jory Sullivan was painting the cars. They were the first company that put an LS powered car into the 6 second bracket. Also where the "Kurt Urban Nova" was built. The 2008 "Great Recession" took them under, along with thousands of other companies.......
