Reports from GA to Toronto Canada for how far it was felt.
My brother was working in Northampton, MA
News reported a 2.8 aftershock there.

I was sitting at the computer desk and wifey was in the kitchen
me: babe....I think.....I think there's an earthquake....we're in an earthquake!!
her: What, are you sure?
me: Felt just like this in Japan, all swaying like. Ya it's an earthquake....wait (did quick web search and nothing) it's whatever, it might not be an earthquake.
her: Ya, cause I didn't feel anything
See I'm on Vicodin and thought maybe I wasn't in the best position to be declaring an earthquake. So I laughed a few hours later when I saw it hit the local news websites.
Oh and I'm trying to the think of ways to hail proof the Z from Hurricane Irene that's apparently going to "obliterate" the east coast this weekend. And no, I don't have a garage, otherwise this would be moot.

Yeah, we had a little shakin' here in NC. So while we're waiting for Irene to sock us, we get a quake. I lived in CA for ten years, so I recognized it right away as a quake, but most of my colleagues had never felt one. I heard this was the most powerful quake on the east coast since the 1880's or something like that.

At first I thought I was having a medical problem. I was swaying back and forth in my chair. It lasted about 20 seconds. Turned on my scanner and there was no damage in our area, just some wet pants.
