All the time at the track, never once on the street!
I read this thread yesterday.....today I jumped in the car for a quick little trip "down the highway" to drop off paperwork at my friends house. Got back in the car and all my engine/oil/trans were at operating temps. I remembered this post and put the car in Competition Mode and got on it.
F-that. Freaking car broke loose on me and a went into the shoulder of the road. These cars a no joke....push it and it will punish you....
and I thought I was an experienced mature driver who could handle it.
I should have just listened to rebelheart's quote.....

Putting the car in comp. mode means it's up to YOU to control your vehicle...not some computerized nanny. If you can't handle a Corvette without aids, might I recommend a Toyota Avalon?

Since we' on the topic, I don't use it often cause I have to be a complete stop. '01-04 you don't, what changes that? I'd love to use and see how it is.

I dont know the answer to your question, but is it that tough to hold the button down sitting at a stoplight, or just after you fire the motor up?

Honestly I just hop in and go, or normally forget while driving. I'm sure if I made it a habit. It's mainly out of curiosity as to if it's possible to change.

Yeah whoever bought mine new as well decided he didnt need active handling but he did order the Z51 package so I guess he thought he could really really drive and didnt need the help.

Bad tires? I am inclined to call BS on this as I am an aggressive driver in my car probably more frequently than most. What mods?

Alex - Stock A4, 3.15 Rear, Z51....BUT, the original tires...yes, rock hard runflats that didn't offer any traction.....
I was doing about 20MPH and just pushed the go pedal all the way down.....
I'll be putting on new tires in the fall. Car only has 10,600 miles on it. Probably wouldn't have this problem if I had newer rubber on rims....
So in the fall when I put new (Insert tire here) I'll probably have better results. Until then the nanny button stays on.

Makes sense. I have non runflats (BFG KDWIIs) which aren't exactly the best, they do offer better traction that the factory rubber. Be safe
When I had my old 02 C5Z, I always turned it off. Off for normal driving and track events. Just got in my way while driving. Never drove it in snow so I probably would've left all the nannies on if I did just to see how much it would intervene.
