As I mentioned
this unit it UNIVERSAL to more than just the C5 Corvette and will work just fine.
I've got a Simple connect kit that I got at Best Buy and had them install. Works great.
Hooked into the 12 disk changer wire but I can still use the changer.
I use it with an Ipod Nano which works great. I have a separate switch to stop any battery drain but I usually forget to shut it off. How much battery drain can I be getting from the Nano? Can't be much and I've never had a problem. I drive the car maybe 2-3 times a week.
I don't use the radio controls for anything but volume. Found a nice mount at Best Buy that puts the Nano right next to the radio on a swivel. It works great too.
Just use the Nano like a Nano and you have no problems.

This kit is the PXDX which does not charge and will not allow any controls via the radio
The PXDX is for any source including Ipod
The PXDP is for the ipod only

Dennis,
A couple quick questions before I click checkout on your site.
- Peripheral PXDP PXHGM2 Chevrolet Corvette 97-04 iPod Adapter is all I need to install in my stock '02 CD (no remote changer) head unit?
I also bought the kit from DD! Works just perfect. Very easy to install. Does not drain the battery. (But it maybe can - if you leave your iPod, for example, connected to the interface dock-cable. I think the dock-cable has constant 12V..!)
Ps, I'm also hearing that "chirping" sound, someone mentioned. But only between songs or if the music is very "quiet"!
Anyway, the DD iPod/iPhone adaptor/interface is an great product well worth the money!!
Just got done installing pxdp & pxhgm4 in stock radio without cd changer.Works great and sounds great.Took about a hour ,Was going slow being nervous about messing things up.Directions from Double D Mods were great .Printed out directions and went page by page. Thanks DD for directions and great service and quick delivery.David
I am expecting the pxhgm4 hanress to come in on Wednesday. These have been on back order from PAC Audio for a couple weeks now. We shipped out the last of what we had left in stock on Friday for these.
We email out USPS tracking same day everything ships.
Sorry for any delays due to shortage of the pxhgm4

Done!
Hope you get your shipment tomorrow and that I'm on the top of the ship list.

I have the chirping sound when the volume is low to mid level and in between songs and is very irritating, almost to a point where I am tempted to return it to DD, but I do like to operate my itouch through it other than that, so I'll continue to use it for now.

Wow, so on top of draining the battery, it also makes chirping noises?!
c5 bearsfan, when can we expect an updated revision without these problems?
I drive my car on the weekends it sat for 10 days once and started right up
I guess I spoke too soon...the past 2 Fridays and today my battery was dead. I usually drive my car Friday to Monday morning. It doesnt get started tues-thurs and by Friday its dead. I checked today and it was dead again.

I've had my interface and cable from Dennis for almost two years and have not had any issues with it. There are times when my car doesn't get driven for a week or two while I'm out of town and it always starts right up when I get back.
C5's are really hard on batteries even in stock form. If yours is gone chances are the iPod cable wasn't the culprit. It may have contributed as it is attached to a "always hot" wire, but that alone wouldn't have done it...
I haven't had the battery tested yet but I don't have any problems with it charging unless it's been sitting about 2 days. I'm going to test it tomorrow.

I would say you have battery issues, 2 days the battery should not go dead, When I had my ipod hookup in my car and it say for 4 or 5 days in the winter never an issue.

Can any one tell me if disconnecting the iPod when not driving the car would stop the battery drain? Seems to me it wouldn't pull any current unplugged.

I only have my iPhone connected when I'm driving obviously it does pull current unplugged. I drove my car over the weekend with several stops and starts with zero issues..however it's been sitting since Monday and I'm sure it's now dead.
I installed the pxdp and cable and the Ipod works great and so does my Iphone4S. No drainage issues so far but it hasn't been that long since I installed the parts.
Having to use the Ipod controls doesnt bother me since I have to do the same with my truck but in building the mount to keep the Ipod out in the open with out it sliding across the center console I have found a new problem and wanted to see if anyone else had the same issue.
I bought a docking station from apple and glued it to a spray paint can lid so that it would hold my phone upright in the cupholder but when I plug in the cable to the back of the docking station and set the phone on the docking station the phone will charge but not play music. If I take the cable out and insert it into the phone directly it charges and plays music just fine.
Any one else having this problem and if so how can it be overcome?
