They are real thin but are legal in Texas. The covers aren't.

Thanks! yeah i agree the tints looks great from a distance, and aren't too dark that you can't see the lights through!
i was just hoping there was a good solution for looking great from far, as well as close... and having enough light through for safety...
i guess tinting LED taillights would do it, but thats quite expensive compared to cheap tinted covers....
Those louvers look pretty good as well...

Thanks for the info.

I am still using the tinted covers with LED's with halo's and they are very visable. If I get motivated I will tint them but, I will never consider the louvers. While they looked great in the mid 80"s during the Miami Vise period, they look about as good as a white sport coat and shoes with a pink polo shirt today.
