I totally agree there... Its almost a joke at most shows I have been to (Neon, LED's, strobes, gaudy over the top interior/exterior mods). Of course the engine and drivetrain is bone stock... . They like to bring all the trophies out to shows and line them around there car...
Its always a treat when I start up my car at the end of the show and all the attention moves from them to me...
I used to go to some cruise nights, and would always catch a load of crap from some other Corvette owners for modding my car and not keeping it stock. Especially since its a "Z06".
I just got annoyed, since the same group would go to every show, and preach to me about how I ruined it and destroyed a perfectly good car.
I'll let them have their fun. Meanwhile, I'll drive mine around and take it to the tracks with my "ruined Corvette"

The all-bling-no-go vette mods aren't really my thing either but some people like it. If you don't like it just do what I do... don't go. There's nothing wrong with it, some people get a lot of enjoyment out of having a "eat off the block" clean vette with chrome...
I used to go to shows when I was in high school because some of my friends were into it. I went in whatever condition the car happened to be in that day and put a sign next to it that said "this is what it looks like when you drive the hell out of it"

Gotta love a nice cam, full length headers and open exhaust to turn the heads at the shows. Everybody comes over to check out the car when they hear it.
Last show, Let the old man drive to get some videos, we both enjoyed it, see videos below.
And thats the reason I go to the shows, to share the hobby with the guy who got me into it, Now i'm passing the torch to the little guy. 3 generations of Ben's

I'm with you on that one....
My dad got me into the hobby when I was young. I'm passing the love of cars to my son too !
I just wish my dad was still around to see my son and I enjoying the hobby. He had a new 98 on order but died in Nov 97 just before taking delivery....
I love going to car shows and looking at what must have been a lot of time and money invested. Also like to ask questions about this and that and BS a little but after an hour or two its time to go for a drive. I know to each his own but I just can't imagine sitting in a lawn chair all day on a nice day, only getting up every half hour to featherdust everything off again and brag about how "my car is ten years old and only has 8,000 miles on it". Yes, I expect negative feedback on my comments and welcome them but do understand I respect the choices people make as to what to do with their cars and everyone should have a hobby, my choice is to spend my spare time driving. getting all the rock chips and scratches that come with that choice.
Not trying to sound snobbish, but I enjoy car shows just to have people look at and comment on my car. I've put a considerable amount of time and money into it and to hear someone say something nice makes it all worth while. Most of the shows I attend are for charity, which makes it even better.
I enjoyed my 1st show in Eureka Springs last week. My car is a "Daily" driver with no bling and got tons of comments because of it's color "Bowling Green" (kinda fitting for a 'Vette). When it came to voting I tended to be swayed towards the cars you could tell were regularly driven instead of the "show car/garage queens". The tricked out cars were OK, but I also prefer the real deal.

The last Hooters car show I went to had a 50/50 raffle. After talking with the girls about what it was for, they told me a local family had there house burn down the previous week and they lost 2 of there sons in the fire
After hearing that I told the girls if I'm lucky enough to be called that I would put my half back towards the family. Unfortunately they didn't call my number however the gentlemen who did win did just that and put the $450 he had won back in the fund for the family.
Everybody gave a big applause. That made my day to see.
