I used to say the same thing, that the cags really was no big deal, until doug at ecs did my dyno tune at Carlisle, this year and tuned the cags out of the pcm. NOW it cant even imagine how i drove with it.
The only time it engaged for me was when I was going around a corner following another car that was going slower, and then I was stuck in fourth gear with no where to accellerate.
Just curious tho' what is meant by 'tune it out"?

When your computer has a tune done to it, one of the things that can be done is to eliminate the CAGS feature from the computer which will also eliminate the shift light in the instruments. The light will still come on with the CAGS eliminator installed. The reason skip shift is installed from the factory is so Corvettes won't have to pay a gas guzzler tax.
The CAGS eliminator was my first (and one of the best) mods I did. I almost had cars hit me going around corners from a stoplight with the C5 shifting from 1st to 4th gear!
I bought a manual transmission so that I could shift for myself, and I sure don't need the car to tell me when and where to shift !

I never had my corvette with the shift skip feature and could not imagine having it in place. I like to tell my car what to do, not the other way around.
I backed the car up onto my new ramps-worked great.
Located the solenoid.
Plugged in the CAGS eliminator.
Forgot zip ties so it took me longer to walk back to the basement and get some than it did to do the job!!! SHEESH!! Much ado about nothing...thanks for the encouragement gang, the test ride was SO much more relaxing!!
