The previous owner of my Z gave me a new CAGS eliminator with the car. I thought for sure I would use it, but now, as I'm getting used to the car, I don't think I want to bother installing it. Anyone feel similar??
NO! Get stuck one day on Rt.10 going west in rush hour and you'll wish you installed it. It's very easy and only takes a few minutes, surprised the original owner didn't out it in. If you get a tune they can tune it out instead and get rid of the shift light too.
Ok ok! Is the module located towards the rear of the car?
it was easy. 2. To gain access to the CAGS solenoid, raise your Corvette as directed by the GM Shop/Owners Manual. Be sure to follow all safety precautions and use jack stands to support the vehicle.
3. The CAGS solenoid is located on the drivers' side of the transmission towards the top and rear of the transmission. The wiring harness connector is white and blue in color.
4. Gently lift the locking clip and unplug the connector from the solenoid. Make sure the connector and solenoid are clean. Plug the long grey end of the CAGS Eliminator into the wiring harness. You should hear a snap/click sound when the wiring harness is completely seated. Plug the short blue/grey end of the CAGS Eliminator into the CAGS solenoid. You should hear a snap/click sound when the connector is completely seated.
got that from the website that sells them. it took just a moment to put it in. i already had the car up to change out the transmission fluid. it is really nice to shift when i want to.

I already have one, I just need to raise the car. Time for ramps I guess....

You don't need ramps. Jack the rear of the car. Make sure to chock the the front wheels and use jack stands. It will only take a minute to install and is worth it. It was the first mod i did on my vette.

YES, I feel the same as you. it was the first thing I bought for my car but I figured out how to shift around the CAGS within hours of owning the car. I still installed the eliminator (since I'd already paid for it) and have since had the cags tuned out but it was not needed. I really think there is far too much negative attention for a really minor annoyance on this car. enjoy the Z
A lot of guys say you don't need the eliminator because all you have to do is increase the RPMs. This is true, and it is what I did on open roads before I installed mine. However, the CAGS was a real PITA at times in trafffic. This is where I found the most value for the eliminator.
