Default Xtreme Rear bumper with diffuser?

Well, im always getting asked if we can make a rear bumper with a diffuser for the C5 (other than the ZR rear we have now) Anyway I brought it up to manufacturing and asked if they would be willing to make the new Xtreme rear with a molded in diffuser. They said yes they would be willing to do it.

I would use the C6 diffuser to start and fill in the reverse lights. We could then possibly mod the diffuser a bit to change the look a bit so it doesn't look like an OEM C6 diffuser. We would also have the option to have the full bumper built in fiberglass or have the bumper in fiberglass but the diffuser would get an overlay of carbon (you could tape it off and leave the carbon exposed) If we do this, I want to keep it simple. I don't want to make it super complicated. I think the Xtreme rear with a molded in diffuser would be one of the best looking bumpers available (and im partial to the ZR bumper)

Im sure most of you know what im talking about but for those that don't, below is our new Xtreme rear bumper

And this would be the diffuser that is molded in (unless we modify it a bit)

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Just make the fins more pronounced than the OEM C6 diffuser ...then your set. May wanna make it able to fir your ZR bumper too that way it opens up more variety.

If these bumpers are fiberglass and not urethane I would have to pass.

I think they're duraflex. Which you can twist and won't snap. It's nice.

Yea it's duraflex like my ZR rear bumper. I've had that bumper on for over 2 years with no issues. I know what your getting at but if someone bumps into my rear bumper fiberglass or not most likely it would get replaced either way. Urethane is very costly to make I would need a minimum of like 25 people with deposits etc to do it. Then we'd have to figure out how to incorporate a diffuser which can't be urethane (it would be too flimsy)

Has lots of possibilities. Would like to see a pic once you get it developed.

It looks too watered down with the backup lights integrated into the diffuser IMHO.

There won't be reverse lights in the diffuser, they will be filled in. We might also change the look a bit of the diffuser.

They're C6 reverse lights. So either Zc6 for sale section,or a GM parts vendor here.

Bleeper, I don't think your going to find many owners that find that nice for styling. Remember, this is for looks, not functionality. Unless Quik has time to go to a wind tunnel and test it endlessly lol

Just curious but if the xtreme bumper has the same general shape on the bottom as a standard c5 bumper why mold it in? Making it separate would allow those who aren't looking to replace their entire bumper with the ability to add a tastefully designed rear diffuser.

This has been brought up a lot of times. Only way to mount a diffuser on a OEM C5 rear is to cut the lower portion of the bumper where it would sit. Other than that there is no real way to make a diffuser for the C5 that will look good, it would stick out. There was a company that tried a few years ago and basically once it was produced everyone just laughed at it. Trust me if there was a simple way to make a diffuser for the C5 without having to hack the bumper, I would have made one a long time ago.
