Default 194 bulbs

Can someone tell me where 194 size bulbs go in an '02 Z? AND how does one remove the footwell light lenses? Do I have to take that whole ))%$_$&&^%$* panel down again???

I had to replace my rear-red sidemarker light with a 194.

Sounds like it just prizes out using a screwdriver:

Using a flat-bladed screwdriver or similar tool, unsnap the instrument panel (IP) courtesy lamp from the IP lower closeout panel.

any chance of getting there thru the trunk?
AND the front side markers are the bulbs closest to the side of the light?
Sure hope these chinese led's are worth the effort.
btw, I saw on the list that 'general instrument panel" is also a 194. Anyone know where that one goes and if it's a crazy job?

No. But its crazy easy to get to. Two screws on the tail light. Out it comes. Unplug it and set it aside. Then you have access (I won't say easy access because that depends on your arm size) but I haven't heard of folks having too much trouble getting to them.

You should be able to change one of those bulbs in under 5 mins without having ever done it before.

Rear markers went easy removing tail light, courtesy lights a minor pita but they are done. Front marker looks easy thru headlight opening. Not sure about inst. panel and rear license plate.

As an obsessed DIY'er, I've forced my arms into many places to get a job done, including wiring a light with one hand. Maybe a little dish soap will help!

Go in through the brake ducts. Much easier. Check youtube for video if you want to see someone else do it first.

You can't have big hands for this job.

i've messed with my corners so many times, it ain't funny. i usually just put it on ramps & take the bottom panel off.

the foot well lights just pry out with a pocket knife or screwdriver. the glove box light should be self-explanatory - release the retainer tabs & pull the housing forward. the plate lights are two T15 screws each. the rear side markers have been covered. the cargo bulbs are reached by unscrewing the net holders & pulling the carpet back.

that's all the 194s in the car (that i know of)

the Z's cargo bulbs are the same as my FRC, a vert, and (to the best of my knowledge) the coupes. open the trunk & look beside the lights. there will be 2 big nuts on each side with hooks to hold a cargo net. unscrew those & then pull the carpet back. then just twist the socket out & swap the bulb.

the glove box light has a little retaining tab on the back side. squeeze that in to release the clip & then pull the whole plunger assembly out. unplug the little connector, swap the bulb, & then put it back together.

you've tried making sure it was plugged back in all the way, right? have you tried reversing the polarity (i'm assuming you're installing LEDs) by turning the bulb 180*? have you played with the plunger switch to make sure it didn't just get stuck? check fuses, turn the key to 'on' & see if it works on the high setting (the glove box lights on 2 intensities - low when the key's off & high when the key's on)
