Ash tray door question
Is this door suppposed to stay shut some how? This is the ash tray door not the outter door that covers the ashtray..

I've never understood this either. I'm guessing it's to prevent a fire or any melting.

The inner door has a spring which pushes against the outer door. The idea is that as you open the outer, the inner releases the cigarette fumes

The ashtray itself is sprint loaded to stay open. My assumption is so you can simply open/close the outer door and it will open/close the ashtray door.

i believe the rational (if that word can ever apply to anything at the general) is that it will keep any ashes (for those that actually use it as an ashtray) in the receptacle, figuring that the outer door isn't going to make any kind of a seal for anything in the ashtray. sooner or later if you haven't experienced it yet, the spring loaded inner door will force the outer door to remain ever so slightly "open" and if you care, it is annoying.

Both of these reasons would be what I believe.

Seat heaters! What a great use for the ashtray. Dennis will be rebuilding mine soon and the ashtray will be gone. But seat heaters would be nice.

Seat heaters are a great mod. I put mine next to the active handling button:

Yes its a custom panel and, as the guys said, seat heaters. I have the AH button so no way to mount them on the AH panel.

Great look! Where did you get the kit for seat heater? I really like the way the switches look on this set up.
