My neighbor has an 03 Z, and there are two more within three blocks of my house. I live in a very blueclass neighborhood, so it surely doesn't feel exotic, to me its just a chevy, although a very fast chevy.
Here in SoCal where you see everything (today I saw the new Fiskar sedan at our local Fiskar dealer!) I do seem to get a fair amount or attention, though I think some of that is cause its bright yellow and I keep it spotless.
I live in boca Raton which is a rich town... But I still get Ton of looks still... One time this older guy in a new jag came up to me complementing the car and color and asked what they go for. I didn't wanna tell him I got my Z for only 15K so I told him the price of a brand new z06 lol...
I live right up the road in Lake Worth and I agree with you I get plenty of looks and mines black. I thought it would be a stealth color but I swear I get more looks than my bright yellow 69 camaro.
I get plenty of attn here in MD. Most of it good. The only thing I dislike is the comments from folks at work who think I'm made of $$$s because I drive a Corvette. In all fairness though it does look badass and tons better than 90% of their rides so.......
My GTO was faster than my Z is. Bigger engine, much more refined, way better interior, four seats, and more rare than the C5, which has the popularity of a V6 Mustang around here.
There are a decent amount and wide variety of Vette's in my area of NJ but not too many Z's. I don't pay too much attention to those around me when driving but I have been paced by a few people who have greeted me with giant smiles and a hearty thumbs up. A young guy in a turbo charged Infinity wanted to race me one night but since I don't need to prove to anyone how big my dick is, I let him drive on. I do notice that people are quicker to get into the right lane when I come up on them though, and for that I am appreciative
