I drive my '02 C5Z because I like it, and never look around to see who notices it because I couldn't care less. And if I get positive comments from people I accept them graciously.

i cant even drive my car around here (chicago land area) without a civic, accord, corrolla, camry, escort etc etc trying to want to race lol... i get tailgated and kids pulling up beside me trying to rev thier little soda pop 1 liter cars. its funny never had an issue when the car was stock. toss in some longtubes, off road xpipe, loudmouth, and a wicked lopey cam and everyone wants to race ya.
like the attention when I'm driving, for the most part people keep their distance and are very polite. I don't get cut off as much, tailgated, or all the other selfish stuff people do to other people while driving. Plus I'm behind dark tinted windows, so I don't have to interact with other people.

I hear ya. Thats when I open my cutouts to drown the blower whine lol
BTW, dont ever compare that heavy pig (GTO) to the Z. It would make a nice grocery getter though.
Post a pic of your eye candy
My GTO was faster than my Z is. Bigger engine, much more refined, way better interior, four seats, and more rare than the C5, which has the popularity of a V6 Mustang around here.
Too much attention? There are times when I think mine is invisible. I had some fool pull out of a side street dead in front of me this afternoon. Thankfully it was a 25 mph zone and I saw him pulling out, but I was only about 3' from his driver side door when I got stopped. I honked the horn to get his attention. Dude gave me a dirty look flipped me off as he went about his merry way. TGIF.

I live in Silicon Valley, you can't drive a mile without seeing lots of Mercedes, BMW's and Porsche's. They are a dime a dozen here and people don't give them a second look.
Because I think people are a bit overpaid and snooty here Corvettes are much less common than you would think with the number of other expensive cars around. I mean I know 3 non car people who have Boxsters/Caymans that where optioned up to new Z06 price level and they would never even have considered buying a Chevy.
As to the attention. You bought the wrong Z06. My friends with C6Z's don't get as much attention or looks as my C5's. Has nothing to do with how fast or 'expensive' they are either. It's just that Joe/Jane layman can't tell a C6Z from a normal C6. A C5Z doesn't look like anything else and they all can see that. I get tons more attention in my C5Z than I do in my 100k cars.
That body style just makes it a standout to the autoblivious.
Agreed, in the Bay Area, the C5Z is a pretty stealthy car. My old Charger SRT8 got way more attention. Of course within a few houses I have a Porsche GT2 RS, GT3 RS, a few Maseratis, more BMW and Mercedes than I can count...etc. I think to most people the C5Z just looks like any other Vette. My old SRT8 got looks based on the huge rims (20" from the factory) and big hood scoop. It was a really aggressive looking car...and yes I miss it. It was a great car! The C5Z is more classy and refined than the SRT8 when it comes to styling.
They aren't rare here either, I seen two other C5Z vettes on one Sunday morning taking a short 5 mile drive to get donuts. But the other two did look a little riced out, kinda tacky, you know, the ones that desperately want the attention. I'm guessing it's the bone stockness, the factory goodness that gets the positive attention, around here anyway.
But, I do think I would trade it for the right GTO. Silver, dewinged, maybe an 04 hood on an 06, twin turbo stick shift.

That is why you get attention. PPL think your a drug dealer and dont want to get shot.
if the tint is more then stock, most LEOs when they see you WILL pull you over.
In this area Corvettes are definitely Sunday drivers, so my car does get some attention I suppose. I have L5 rears, C6Z wheels with 345's out back, pretty much every bolt on with a bb exhaust so...it's hard not to notice. When my car looked stock it definitely received less notice. For this area, based on our local income avg, Corvette is certainly upper end.
Due to the type of business I own though, I often drive around Ferrari's, Lamborghini's and other higher end exotic cars. I've been spit on, had drinks thrown at me, people flipping me off, etc. So...driving my Z06 is a relief!
