Anyone else feel that the Z06 gets way too much attention for a 10 year old car? I'd rather fly under the radar, but driving the Z06, it's almost impossible. I bought the car because I love the performance bang for the buck, and it's an amazing drive, but wow, the attention. Sometimes I wonder if I should just get a nice 6.0 GTO again, that thing was invisible. But, to bring it to the level of performance of the Z06, plus it's so heavy so it would never handle like the Z06.
I guess I'll just have to endure the "hey, nice car!" shouted across a parking lot, and the "it must be nice" comments. Oh well, I guess I could have bigger problems.
Nobody pays much attention to mine here in the North East and I've had it since it was new. Many cars from MB and BMW are much more expensive.
I live in the Northeast as well, I can't really recall anybody saying anything about my car. As a matter a fact my wife gets more comments on her BMW.....
I live in Silicon Valley, you can't drive a mile without seeing lots of Mercedes, BMW's and Porsche's. They are a dime a dozen here and people don't give them a second look.
Because I think people are a bit overpaid and snooty here Corvettes are much less common than you would think with the number of other expensive cars around. I mean I know 3 non car people who have Boxsters/Caymans that where optioned up to new Z06 price level and they would never even have considered buying a Chevy.
As to the attention. You bought the wrong Z06. My friends with C6Z's don't get as much attention or looks as my C5's. Has nothing to do with how fast or 'expensive' they are either. It's just that Joe/Jane layman can't tell a C6Z from a normal C6. A C5Z doesn't look like anything else and they all can see that. I get tons more attention in my C5Z than I do in my 100k cars.
That body style just makes it a standout to the autoblivious.
Nobody gives a damn here in the NW......thankfully.
That's been my experience as well, but I don't really look around to watch what other people are gawking at. A while ago, some stranger said something about "wish I could afford your car", but I told him a 5 yr old Camry was worth more. Don't know how accurate that was, but you should have seen his face.
mY 04 Z06 Z16 gets alot of attention but nowhere near my C6's. One is a Z06 GT1 and the other is a coupe GT1. Almost no one has ever seen one let alone ever heard of one.
I hear ya. Thats when I open my cutouts to drown the blower whine lol
BTW, dont ever compare that heavy pig (GTO) to the Z. It would make a nice grocery getter though.
Post a pic of your eye candy
Hey take it easy with the GTO comments... I have gotten my GTO down to 3450ish with minor things taken out that arent noticable making 425/396 with just a Cam and LT's, Running consistant 11.70's @ 116 ...
I think I have gotten a equal ammount of attention from both cars... The GTO gets the WOW whats under the hood that thing sounds f'n sick and the Z06 gets the damn that car looks sick as hell blacked out...
Lol!! My car is bone stock, qs lowered .6". Nothing that special to look at, most of the time it's not very clean, and the front wheels are black with brake dust. I use it as a daily driver, when I'm not driving my dodge diesel. No reason at all for this car to get attention, and I'm a plain looking 40 year dude, so that's not it either.
People take 2nd looks at my car all the time and I average a thumbs up each day here in Houston/Katy. However, I hate when a Gransport or C6Z pull up beside me, it's makes my car look old and decrepted.
C5Z...best looking vette on the road! That is MHO and I will stick with it. That is why I had to get another one when I found out my previous C5Z was totaled out I was sandwiched (due to being rear-ended)!
Stop looking at yourself in the mirror and just drive. Dont worry about what other ppl think.
I like the attention when I'm driving, for the most part people keep their distance and are very polite. I don't get cut off as much, tailgated, or all the other selfish stuff people do to other people while driving. Plus I'm behind dark tinted windows, so I don't have to interact with other people.
