The tape works fine and the plate is easily removable when you want to change the look with a different plate.

Just get some fishing line or dental floss and with a sawing action cut through the tape from one end to another.
IF you are hoping to keep or sell the old plate make sure you have a soft towel /foam etc under it when the tape is sawn thru so that the face of the plate does not get scratched.

I went to that auction site and bought a blank stainless plate for about $10, just put on whatever sticker you want.
